I remember seeing a few websites that offer technology for you to play window games on web browser. I want to create games in Dark Basic Pro and let user play it through a web browser on www.blogoberry.com Does anyone know the websites?

I remember seeing someway to do this a while back... but the verdict was that it was way too slow.

I recommend using a language that is actually geared towards web development, which DBPro is not.

I was thinking of Java for gaming, but Jesus Christ..it looks complicated and takes alot of coding to do something simple.

You can use Unity3D for web deployment, actually. And it's free for the indie-version, these days.

You can also use something simple, like Flash, though it doesn't have the 3D support, obviously.

I have played 3D Flash games-- there are libraries for 3D.

I am the mighty Aton and I bring forth my benevolent gifts.

Web Game Builder is an innovative tool for game developers to bring games or applications online. It can convert your ordinary exe games to cool web games. You needn't know Java or Flash, most work can be done in a few minutes by clicking mouse. Web Game Builder will pack the game, then generate all files automatically including the html code. The code works with complex web pages, all you have to do is to insert it anywhere you like in your page.

If it works well, post your findings. The all seeing Aton has to be kept illuminated.

I've checked it out. A compiled demo can be found here ( http://itmustbetrue.com/web%20demo.rar ) (launch the run.html file in your browser) using one of TGC's example demos. It's about 7mb compressed and about the same size when "compiled" using the game builder software. Thankfully, it compresses it itself, so games won't be obnoxiously large anyway. You can use the mouse or keyboard to play this game (shift shoots, arrow keys to move).

So to get it to work properly, you have to compile the game to run in a window at any resolution (but not fullscreen). Keep in mind that the game will be in a webpage, so you will probably need to keep the resolution low. When the game launches, there's a popup that goes away. I wonder if it's possible to launch the game without the user seeing a popup.

The keyboard works perfectly and doesn't mess with the browser when in game. However, the mouse doesn't seem to stay in the game area, so that makes it a major drawback to using the mouse. Perhaps there's a way to keep the mouse within the confines of the game box until a key is pressed (perhaps a key that also ends the game immediately). Anyone got any ideas?

oh, so anyways, I'd love your guy's opinions, because I'd love to make web-based dbp games.

Java's not too bad difficulty wise. In fact it's fairly straightforward and fast to dev with. The issue you'll find is that if you go straight into applets (rather than full blown applications) it will confuse the hell out of you. The security restrictions and other limits it places don't really make sense until you learn + understand the language from a desktop point of view

^^The only downside I see to this product is that it only works with IE... Which is a major Thumb Down in my case...

Aye, there was some other software that's rumored to not work well, but I'll check further into it once I actually have something worth putting in a browser.

While on the subject, we're hoping that later this year we'll be able to offer a plug in version of PlayBasic.
