I kind of understand your point, but I don't see the need to log onto your computer remotely if all of it's data is stored on the web. All it is, is a web interface.

Why not just use the computer you're on to access your files on Google where they already are? They will be accessible from any browser.

If the netbook is using an Atom processor, than I suggest you commit yourself to a mental institute.

@xplosys - Is it just a web interface? If so, then yeah, you could access it from anywhere. Then it's a GOOD idea! I assumed (having not actually looked into it) that it was an actual operating system, to be installed onto your PC. In which case, you couldn't access it from any PC.

No, it's an O/S that the machine will boot from, but it's purpose and interface is designed for and on the web. At the moment, it looks like it's function is to start up a web browser. You might call it a B/S (browser system)

Quote: "Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web."

It may have additional features that are not WEB related, but they have not mentioned any. Their interface images display only WEB related functions and content.

I seems difficult to understand that some people use netbooks for email, web browsing, etc and not for game development. Business people understand why you don't carry your desktop around with you, or why you don't buy a 3000.00 laptop when you have a desktop in your office or home.

Celeron 630.

'Gaming', BTW, does not mean I'm playing UT3 on it. Think Hogs of War, the original UT, Q3, Morrowind, System Shock II, Driver, Midtown/Motocross Madness, Sonic Adventure, Star Trek: Armada, etc.

Athlon64 2.7gHz->OC 3.9gHz, 31C, MSi 9500GT->OC 1gHz core/2gHz memory, 48C, 4Gb DDR2 667, 500Gb Seagate + 80Gb Maxtor + 40Gb Maxtor = 620Gb, XP Home
Air cooled, total cost £160

On the point of not being able to access your Chrome account at school . . .

Why is it so unfeasible for Google to offer an option in which you can log onto a Chrome website and have access to just your files or some limited versions of the Google Apps?
