Are you ready for the new movie Avatar?

Have you seen the awesome trailer?

Have you paid a visit to Ready for Avatar?

Ok, so the last link is just some fun pictures I made while learning Paint.Net. I hope you "get it". It's really quite funny

And yes, the Duke is there...

Yah I can't wait, this was one of my favorite series. The trailer is awesome, and it's by one of my favorite directors, M. Night.

I can't say the trailer appealed to me to be honest. Seemed a little too overblown, heavy on both the CGI and the apparent hamfisted blood-for-oil metaphor. Maybe it's just a bad trailer though.

I really like James Cameron films (Terminator 2, Aliens etc) but with this one the effects just seemed to be way overdone. I'll probably see it anyway though.

This movie looks like it would appeal to furries.... which I am not remotely interested in. Is anyone else creeped out by the creatures?

Lol Jeku, I want to see what the hype is about. Liverpool one owes me two free seats so ill got thier and watch it in 3D. If a film has taken 12 years to complete then it must have a little intresting niches right?

And no, am not a furry. One question, Why do they all speakity Englisshh?

Same, but not so much creeped out - just a little cringey because I guarantee the protagonists' love interest will be one of them / they'll get intimate at some point

Of course, if it's presented well it will be so immersive we'll forget they aren't human, so it could go both ways

If that were true, then I hope the movie fails miserably. Night makes some of the worst movies ever and people need to stop giving him money.

I think Avatar looks interesting, CGI looks great but the weird elf characters (or whatever they are) look a little cheezy.

Exactly what I was going to say. I will not be going to see this. The CG is great, no doubt there, but this movie looks (as in plot wise) sub par at best.

I thought it was completely CGI? Characters and all...they just look fake to me, or they just edited to look less 'real' so it fit with the CGI more.

I've read that Mr. James also wants to show how a real 3D movie should be made, and that it's not just for kids movies. So I'll probably just see it for that reason.

...honestly I'm not a fan of 3D movies, that's just me I guess.

Ah and the comment about M.Night, to each his own.

It's mixed. Some of it is completely CGI, some of it isn't.

I plan to go and see Avatar with 3D glasses and have an immersive childish 2 hours of fun. If you want anything else from the film you are setting yourself up for dissapointment.

I've heard that a lot lately, and I don't get it. If I go to a movie, it means that there is a good chance that it has gotten the majority of my interest. I would not go see a movie otherwise. But the argument people have made is that if I just change my attitude from expecting what ever it is I expect to something less of that, then I would enjoy it. I don't understand this at all. What sort of bassackwards rubbish thinking is this? I can appreciate the effort, time and talent that is put into any movie, but this whole tricking myself into liking a movie business is odd. I hope this doesn't become a standard or something.

Solution: don't go out to watch movies. I've never done it, and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon. It's such a waste of money in my opinion; I can watch the same thing at home for a buck from Redbox--and without the crowds, noise, and adverts.

Sometimes those are the only good parts of a movie though

I honestly don't have any desire to see this movie. The family and I are going to see it at an Imax theater fairly soon but I really don't think it looks anything spectacular.

Signature's are stupid.

My comment is in response to people expecting this to be Shakespeare or some elaborate social critique. It's a simple metaphorical children's film, essentially. The draw for this film is the graphics and the 3D - the ride.

I say this in response to such comments as "the storyline looks cheesy" or "predictable". Its about giant blue aliens. What do people expect it to be like?
