Yes, there is a bright purplish spot in the bottom right corner of my laptop. I do not know what caused it, sometimes its there, sometimes its not. What can cause this? Nothing has been sitting on top of it and I have not used force on it.

please help

thanks

i lol'd

Is it a spot like a clump of pixels, or just a few isolated pixels? If it's individual pixels, they might just be stuck. You can get it unstuck by running an animation that flashes colors really fast over it for a couple hours, or by pressing on the screen with your fingernail or a q-tuip or something.

i cant show any pics, they are too blured to see any of it. I have described it as well as i can.

EDIT: i cannot really press against the screen because there is a 2mm thick plastic protector over it.

thanks

@ Jerico2day
very un-necessary

as for your screen is it an older screen or a new lcd one? It can be caused by any magnetic field being too close to the screen. The most common cause is from a subwoofer or other loudspeaker being nearby.

it is a laptop lcd. there are the speakers under both sides of the screen, only the right side is affected.

thanks

Let me guess, this somehow connects back to Acer and requires you to post many anti-Acer articles?

Does it look something like this? [pic] then it's a pressure spot.

You mentioned it is bright purplish. In my knowledge magnets cause those color dis-figurations. ex: [pic]

But as it is not constantly present, could it not be plausible that it's just the sun reflection or something? ([pic])

Anyway. I have no idea.

Magnets shouldn't affect LCDs should they? They distort CRTs because they interfere with the electron gun. Which LCDs don't have.

Oh yes, you are quite right in that assumption. My mistake.

It's a lame /b/ joke man My guess is it's just a pressure point, but it's hard to tell without a pic. What's your laptop make and model, in case there's others having this issue.

It's an LCD, but I think it is being affected by the magnetism of the speaker under it. I woke up to use it and its very bad. I'll try using my camera again. But it will be a bit blurred.

This is not an acer, the acer was wiped from exhistance several months ago.

*IMAGE: colour has been increased so it is easier to see*

thanks

Looks like a pressure spot to me. It is possible that it could be a problem with your graphics card though, especially as it's alternately there and not.

ok then
assuming that lcd laptop screens are built similarly to lcd tv's than you should not close your computer whale its speakers are on. if it is just the magnetism than it should go away within time.

i don't know how well it would work but to speed up the healing process you could try repeatably turning the screen off for five minutes, than on for five minutes.

this is true. however lcd screens are not magnet proof. they only have a higher tolerance for them.

if the spot does not go away than it was probably caused by something else.

The magnets in speakers are still magnetic when inactive. They spike and peak when in use but I think you'll find a ferrous object will stick to a speaker even when it's switched off.

I believe it is the speakers because the dot was gone just before, when I closed the lid to go to class with the laptop turned on, and when i opened it again the dot was there.

thanks
