I've been wanting to create a place where I can post all of my projects and tutorials for people to view and download, and a blog wasn't really working out, so I made a site--my first site, actually.

[DrewSpace]

It's lacking content for the most part, but I'd like some feedback on the design and what not if possible. Thanks.

EDIT:

Nvm.

EDIT 2:

Ok, so now the website is under review. Probably not the best time to make this thread, sorry guys Hopefully it'll be up by tomorrow.

I like the look of it, and the important stuff, like the tutorial section is clear and easy to use.

The one thing I'd say is that as it's such a personal name, DrewSpace, it implies a more personal website, so really I think you need to have some sort of character there to pull it together. If you had a clean looking cartoon of yourself then that would be perfect - a cartoon character with lots of colour, representing yourself would show a lot of confidence. Often people have caricatures done, which would be perfect - draw over the lines, colour and add some solid, cartoon style shading and I think it would look great.

I believe this is especially important when trying to sell through your website - with no 'character', it might appear to some that the website is just there to make money - but by putting yourself, or an avatar representing you on the page, it gives it a more considered and personal look. People are more likely to pay for software when they think that their money is well appreciated by the developer - and that the developer puts a lot of themselves into their site and products.

From style.css:
Quote: "div
{
position:absolute;
left:120px;
width:900px;
}"

I don't understand. Why? It isn't the left or the right and on maybe 15% of monitors it'll be centred fullscreen.

It's off-centre in Chrome too. Almost centred, but visually not fully centre

Here's an idea: change the CSS to:

That should preserve your 120px border and center it as well as ensuring that the site uses space efficiently... for a site with a total of 240px margin

Athlon64 2.7gHz->OC 3.9gHz, 31C, MSi 9500GT->OC 1gHz core/2gHz memory, 48C, 4Gb DDR2 667, 500Gb Seagate + 80Gb Maxtor + 40Gb Maxtor = 620Gb, XP Home

Is html not yet supported for forum highlighting? I tried, but no luck.

VanB: Thanks, I'll consider

NeX: I tried centering it but ran into some issues for whatever reason. I'll try what BiggAdd has suggested.

Thanks guys.
