Windows 7 saves all your files from the previous installation into C:\Windows.old, so unless something goes wrong you should be okay.

I will live forever or die trying.

It is a good idea to back up, but as Venge said, Windows 7 will just stuff all your documents, program files, etc., into a folder called Windows.old. Other folders on your main drive will stay the same.

Have fun. I've been enjoying Windows 7 so far.

Ah. Yeah, I only had a 32GB. But now I have 320GB, so it's all good.

Edit:

Quote: "everything looks almost the same.
internet connection thingy has improved.
taskbar is a little more useless.
folders look kinda ugly (games ones look MUCH better.)
the computer took about 15 seconds to load.
and Google chrome disappeared for a brief moment."

1. It does look similar to Vista...is that bad?
2. Yes, I LOVE how the internet words in Win 7. Auto-detect, auto-fix, auto everything.
3. The taskbar is awesome, it just takes times getting used to it.
4. Umm...the folders look great to me.
5. 15 seconds to boot? That's good. 15 seconds to log on? You need a new computer\hard drive
6. Upgrading can cause some problems. Hopefully nothing too major for you. I prefer a clean install.

Cool. Now you've sat through the install and seen how cool it looks, you can get ready for the steady and relentless slew of problems that will aggravate and frustrate you, to the point of near suicide. Have a nice day.

Clean installs for the win. Upgrades normally leave everything a mess

Windows 7 clearly took the Window franchise to a position where it can challenge other OS' distributions, but honestly, I only see a small difference from it and XP, besides that mouse-speed has been increased(In a game, my average sensitivity was 6.4, now, it's 1.2)...

However I still think it's got a long way to go before it can top off current Linux distro's... But what will Linux be like when that time comes?
