As Dylan Moran once said, Men are much more romantic than women. If a man finds a woman he loves, he'll rant a rave for ages, he'll say things like 'she's the only one for me, if I can't be with her for the rest of my life I'll die' they can think of nothing else and it invades their whole life. That is how women feel about shoes.

Ha ha! I love Dyaln Moran, he puts things so eloquently.

is google trying to say something?"

Odd, I get an ad about cooking for Christmas...if anything Google's trying to tell us that the woman's place is in the kitchen, which is just awful, I mean I thought we've moved away from the 50s.

If I were you, I would listen to Google ads, obviously they've become quite bigoted. Next we'll see ads telling us to beat up ethnic minorities. "Like GTA? Did you beat up ethnic minorities? Want to do it for real? If yes, then join us on July 3rd for National be Extraordinarily Racist Day. (NERD for short)"

My teacher always said women made better programmers because their brains were more detail oriented. I think the reason women don't get into game development is entirely cultural.

Side note - I was always under the impression that Green Gandalf was a women

Women in game development is definitely a rare occurrence. But every once in a while you get someone like Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, every guy game developers dream:

Who wouldn't want her as your boss?

I think there is a lot of truth in this thread behind the jokes. Me and women are fundamentally different, especially in areas such as logic and creativity and emotion and reason.

I think a large part of it is to do with the fact that most games are shooter games which most women don't like.

I don't know about you, but all my family holidays involve the women cooking and the guys doing other things (Christmas lights, configuring TV sets, etc.) That stereotype is probably mostly true.

COOL STORY BRO!

Why does it matter? I don't work on games to impress girls... That's why I also work part time as a bouncer... It's ALL about BALANCE...

This thread is a prime example of why there are no women here.

Interesting, I find the opposite...yet it's not something that attracts them. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong and should aim for somebody who is fundamentally different...or face surgery, whichever works...

...don't worry, no girlfriend threads, please. We got sick of them enough last time enough to last a life time.

Is it odd that I know people that can attest to those qualities?

They're all harmless jokes, I am sure most people are capable of recognising that. It's a ridiculous topic, so we make fun.

Ours is a mix. My Dad can't cook, so that's my Mum, but then my sister's lazy and my often brother works on Christmas (he's a Chef, so he tends to work until about 3pm), so I tend to get the extra jobs. I think one year my brother did some of the cooking, so the stereotype sometimes applies, but in some houses, the norm changes. I don't think it's a 'sex' thing, I mean my Dad would probably cook if he was ever any good at it, he comes from a family where cooking isn't one of their skills...perhaps because they're all drunk, considering they're Irish, the only stereotype to actually be accurate. (At least, my Nan's drunk when she's cooking us dinner on boxing day)

The last time I tried to make a cake for Christmas, it was crunchy in the middle. I took that as a sign to let my then wife (now ex-wife) make all the food.

Both men and women are capable of the same things, if they put their minds to it. The thing with video games is that, for the most part, they are violent. Men and naturally more aggressive than women, so we are naturally more comfortable with playing games.

I'm working on Swordfight again! Come tell me what you think!

Aren't games generally more violent because it's more likely to be blokes playing on them anyway though? I think it's just a societal thing...

I looked up a list of why girls are better than a computer and vice versa, but I found a way to contradict every comment. For instance, girls still work when the power goes out. (unless you have a UPS) Or, you'd never catch a computer in bed with another friend. (unless its a laptop and you have a roommate) You can't take a computer to dinner (well you can a laptop on a business dinner)

Girls are like pancakes; they have to be turned over or one side is all burnt and the other is hardly cooked at all.

It's for the best that there are hardly any females here - given the way half the forum reacts when TilyLaLa dares to post, any more women here and nothing would get done.

Personally, I prefer women who are a bit more tangible.
