This renders a coolio effect and could be used for any number of texture bases, backgrounds, etc. Or, it could just look cool on your desktop.

file -> new (640x480)
filter -> render -> difference clouds
filter -> pointalize (20 to 50)
image -> adjust -> gradient map (pick white to black)
filter -> blur -> radial blur (10 to 20, zoom, best)
filter -> pixelate -> fragment
filter -> stylize -> find edges
image -> adjust -> invert
image -> adjust -> auto levels
image -> adjust -> hue/saturation (be sure to select colorize on the right)

crank up the saturation for some cool 'fuzzy effects'

now you can further play with it, try:
filter -> texture -> craquelure (15, 6, 9)

or:
filter -> distort -> glass (2, 3, frosted, 100)

i really think the glass one is cool...it's the final effect for the pic above.

have fun! cheers.

Top Tips!

I don't have the pointalize filter though - is it a plugin?

Without it and without the glass effect (which I have but didn't use) I get this rather wooly effect.

Any other tips chippy?

The best way to find out things in Photoshop is to just mess around.

Cassi, you can find it under "pixelate"
filter -> pixelate -> pointillize
(that's the correct 'path')
