It is possible to Extend Video Card's Memory if i have enough RAMs installed on my computer?

Default memory is about 128 MB, And extended is about 358 MB.

...I want more!!! Is that possible ?

Unfortunatly its not.

All fraphics cards that support shared memory always have a maximum amount they can use from the system's memory.

If you want more (and your not using a laptop) I reccommend buying one of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-216-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1515

I have an ATI radeon HD 4850 (runs everything I've thrown at really well) and the card linked above is faster than a HD 4870, which was the next model up from mine at the time. The linked one above also supports DX11 so you'd be future prooved.

But you can just cut the extra tabs off to make it fit, right? My friend told me you can.

Well, yeah, it'll fit, but it won't work. That's only a minor detail, though.

And don't forget to make sure you have an adequate power supply.

Oh, damn, the 4870 I bought last year cost more than that... I hate how GPUs always increase in technology

Which is why I have always said it's stupid to spend more than £50 on a graphics card. It's just not worth it. £40 will get you a 9500GT today which is enough for most games on high settings, just.

At 1024x768
Any bigger and it will struggle. A sensible limit is £120 if you are like me and have a big monitor (1680x1050)

Exactly what I'm using funnily enough.

My point is that to play games on high/very high WITH 4-8xAA he needs to spend £120. It isn't stupid to spend more if you like playing the very latest games. Granted I am using a 4670 that cost just over £50, but I can't see using it in 2011.

Better to spend the most you can and keep it for 3-4 years than spending less and replacing it every year or so.

@Sharp Bullet
Get the Ati 5770 if you are into PC gaming. Otherwise get the 4670 for ~£50.

Not really... half of the value is gone in a year with a £120+ card. If the last half of the card's cost will last you another 2 years, then those are 2 years which are better value.

Think about it - it'll last you two thirds the time but it'll cost half as much.

Ah yes, the Graphics card industry is consistently evolving. Take a look at the ATI 4890. 1 year ago £300, now sub £150. I don't advise going for the latest gen of graphics cards, rather get the best of last years graphics cards at £140-£150
