My monitor on my desktop is about to die. So I'm looking at buying me a new LCD monitor. I would like to get something with a nice resolution, but I'm kinda... poor. I have found two monitors that are in my price range and seem like a good deal. I thought I'd ask here to see what you guys think:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001317
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009175

both have an overall awesome rating. the ACER seems to have backlight bleeding and poor customer support as the common reasons reviewers rating lower. The Samsung has poor support for DVI on it's highest resolution.
I'm using a Mac Mini which only supports DVI, but I have one of those converters so VGA should work okay. I'm not a graphics artist or anything that would make me considerably concerned about color. I mostly want something with good real-estate.

What do you guys think about these two monitors? Is there another monitor you would recommend? ($180 is kinda my max)

Thanks

edit

oh yeah, there's this one too. I've never heard of the brand though. The seller has really good reviews on Froogle though. Anyone heard of that brand before?

It's reviews like that that keep me from believing any comments online. The author of that post considered his tech level "high".

I've been pretty happy with my 24" Westinghouse. It's a few years old now and still 0 dead pixels. I just can't buy a monitor online though, not without seeing the picture it produces in person. Unfortunately, the cheapest monitor I could find on newegg that could even handle my resolution was $250 with the rest well over $300. Although, the cheapest at $250, a 24" Samsung with 5 eggs after 400+ reviews must say something.

Can't really offer much advice on LCDs. The Asus VH242H is $200 and has DVI, HDMI, VGA. Since every gfx card uses DVI, I'm was kinda upset when I got my westinghouse and noticed I had component, composite, s-video, hdmi, vga, but no dvi.

If you don't mind 22 inch then get the Acer V223w.
I have it and it is great. Both DVI and VGA obv.

That looks like a good deal, but the resolution seems kinda... small for such a big monitor. does it really only do 1680 x 1050

That is kinda low, considering Apple's 17" is capable of 1920x1200. But that's one thing I always hated about LCDs, to reach the resolution of a CRT the screen size has to be so much bigger. I like having 1920x1200, but I'd be fine if the monitor was a bit smaller than 24".

I have the Acer one, and it's great although mine came with a dead pixel (thankfully isn't noticeable). It's a huge monitor at 23", haha. I almost wish I got the samsung, but at the same time I don't like glossy screens, only LCD matte.

EDIT: My mistake, I don't have that exact acer, but it looks exactly like it but is 23", and I got it for $180 at Pc Richard's here in the US.

I actually found this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/popupproductdetail.aspx?sku=320-7345&?~lt=popup&c=us&l=en&s=dfh&cs=22

refurbished for $180. I have some friends who have bought a whole bunch of refurbished dell laptops through Dell and haven't had a single problem with it. So I read some reviews on the monitor, and bought it. Looks like a great deal to me.
