Hey guys, I found a website called oemother.com that sells all sorts of stuff, including computers.
There is a computer they have there that I really want, but I am wanting to make sure that they are not like gonna get my money without me getting a computer.

So does anyone know anything about it?

Not much. The site was registered in 2009 and appears to be the work of an indiviual as opposed to a company. What I did find on Google was as much complaints as it was info. According to Alexa, their site ranking is very low, only a third of fpsFREE.com in traffic so...

It's up to you.

Brian.

Thanks guys, I may just go ahead and get one because to me, it looks very professional...
I dont know maybe I shouldnt but those links havent got me quite convinced yet.

I mean one person said they spam... I really dont mind a bit of spam IF and ONLY if they will not just take my money.

I'm curious, if I did and I never got my Laptop would there be a way to get my money back? I mean if I paid with like my debit card.

If you really want to risk it you could by the cheapest thing they sell and if it comes then buy your laptop, if it doesn't ....

About getting the money back: I think it depends which bank your with, Barclays are quite good at getting your money back.

As a general rule, debit cards don't have the protection of a credit card. There is no dispute after the fact and the money is gone from your bank account, so no. There is no way to get your money back from the bank, only the dealer. You really want to use a credit card in this situation because you have full protection and dispute.

I don't think it would be very wise to purchase the computer from a "no-name" website, especially with all these complaints. Stick to more known companies, like Newegg, TigerDirect, or even E-Bay.

It's always a good idea to send them an email first to get an idea of support response. Just use their contact form and ask a general question about the product you are interested in. Many people have told me that they check response time and how the company responds before making a purchase.

HA!
if that was the case, world of warcraft would be an untrusted company.
it takes around 2 days for a GM to reply to a ticket.
lol

and when i emailed their support about changing my email, it took around 1 week between replies, and you might think, once i replied back their next reply might be faster?

nope, had to wait a week - 2 weeks imbetween responds.

Yea I think this part of ring of scam sites, there is another one here: http://mydosell.com the design and email is different but it has the same products and it registered under the same contact details. (http://www.whois.net/whois/mydosell.com) People report this as being a scam site: http://fraudbaster.blogspot.com/2009/07/attention-new-fraud-wwwmydosellcom-is.html

I think it is a wise desicion not to use them.

The fact you can only pay by bank transfer or western union should tell you this is a scam. If the dodgy website alone didn't.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

Yeah, the website is most likely trash. Who could afford to sell this for $680?

Never seen a more obvious fake site in my life. Read the FAQ.

Quote: "Q. Can I pay COD - cash on delivery?

A. No, sorry, you have to pay in full, in advance, by bank transfer or Western Union. "

Instant give away.

Quote: "Q. Why i can not find what I am looking for?
A. If what you require is not on our website then please contact us on our msn or E-mail and we'll do our best to serve you."

MSN... seriously?

Quote: "Q. Can I Pay For My Order By Credit Card?

A. No problme ,you can use a credit card. and We accept payment for orders by Western Union or Bank Wire Transfer."

Are you really going to give your money to a site with typos in the FAQ, come on, it's just not done.

And please, for my sanity, please stop double and triple posting!

You don't find the half-priced Apple laptops cheap? Any retailer who sells Apple computers will sell them at the same price as everyone else, there is no exception. So you're either buying a refurb from them or not a legitimate Apple computer.

And not to stereotype, but I don't buy from Chinese companies. They have the largest counterfeit ring in the world.

Quote: "After you place the order and pay for the product(s), please contact with us. We will delivery the product(s) in one day."

Here that? 1 day! Wow! Oh wait, that's not possible...

And after looking at the links AlexI posted, I'm pretty darn sure you don't want to buy from that website.

Especially if they're actually located in China! The contact info is from Beijing.

yes, technically that's what I meant. Like the silver bracelet I bought on ebay from china. It wasn't real silver like the ad said. But the auction was only a penny, I didn't think I'd actually win and have to pay the $20 shipping.

The fact they offer Western Union for payment probably points toward it being a scam

yea don't use western union unless you really trust the other person, like family. That means don't send money for a bus ticket to girls in mississippi. She never came....

A. No. There are no branch companies or overseas offices or sole-suppliers of our company . xmas-buy is an online wholesale shop. We do not operate any stores, and anyone can register to buy wholesale from us."

Did a quick search for "xmas-buy" and found this:

My guess is it's the same folks since they didn't change the FAQ. I wouldn't trust them.

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.
