Movie Maker no longer comes standard with windows, you cna download it though i think, this might work , unless there is a specific version for 7(Im not sure)http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Movie-Maker-Windows-Vista/3000-13631_4-10729231.html?tag=mncol

The official way to download is to install Windows Live, and tick the relevant option.

Windows Live Movie Maker is much easier to use than the older one, and has more FX, but unless I'm missing something, you have much less power. No separate sound track. It's better, but worse at the same time.

I miss the old one. Just another bad thing about Windows 7. But shhh ... I didn't say that. Windows 7 is AMAZING *hides from 7 fanboys*

if older windows movie maker are free to download, and it doesnt come with win 7, i dont see why its a bad thing about win 7, that doesnt realy make sense.

but what i do hate is office 2010, and its weird and stupid ui, and apps like 3ds max 10 have followed suit, in the weird button on the top left.
(RIP file button. We will miss you.)

The ribbon UI is way more productive imo, it just takes some getting used to. Hopefully more and more applications begin to use it.

The UI is quite cool, but I have two real problems with Live Movie Maker. Firstly, though the ribbon is cool, I don't have any control over adding different sounds to the movie, which is annoying. And secondly, my biggest complaint, is the compression ratios for the movies are terrible. They seem to have given only high quality output options. I miss the old wmv ratios where you could sacrifice quality for small video sizes which would be more suitable for the internet. Now you need 3rd party software to make internet sized clips.

i think its microsofts aim to dumb down applications, and therefore making it harder for people who want to do it properly.

Aye. I was peeved when they got rid of the built in internet blocking in windows 7, and put it into live. Now I can't simply disable the internet for specific users. What pisses me off more is the live version doesn't block the internet but only lets you block ratings or whatever, and it presents itself to the user too. Lame.
