These days most games come with a serial that's connected to an online account if you play multiplayer. So, only YOU can use that serial so you can't be logged in twice, no pirated versions, ect. The reason for this is either you did not by a legit version, or someone got a hold of your key, contact support about this.

I dont understand still.
I put my serial key in from the box.
Is it because my uncle had it on his computer?

It's because someone is playing online or logged in that is using the same serial key as you. It might be your uncle, although if you have his game disk, he'd have to be using someone else's.

Well thats idiotic, because if 1000 dif people have the same key then thats 999 people who cant paly most of the time.

And i highly doubt my uncle is playing it at 12:33 at night

Why would everyone have the same key unless they all pirated the same version? Every key is guaranteed to be unique.

Um... phone your uncle and ask him if he's playing? If he's not, contact support. If he is, then buy your own copy of the game.

You've stopped playing MW2. Niiiice.

Ask your uncle if it's preowned, if so then some guy trying to be an idiot sold the game and is still playing it using the same key.

If its really new, then either your uncle made an account then gave it to you or someone else entered the key before anyone even bought the game. You might think how is that possible? Well all the keys are stored in the game's files, people hack them out and voila, keys.

Actually, I'd say some else has generated your key using a keygen by accident. It's something I've had happen before and the company involved just doesn't want to know. Happened with my Test Drive Unlimited. I phoned Atari and asked them why the bloody hell a game I paid £30 for had an invalid key and they called me a pirate and wouldn't help me. I took the game back and they let me have any other £30 game.

I'm with Nex on this one, if you can confirm that its not your uncle, then someone has generated your key using a keygen.

Perhaps you'll have more luck with support?

That advice doesn't make any sense, because the serial key is the same whether you reinstall it or not.

If you're not getting servers, contact support again.

I wouldn't. They'd just make more money that way. I'd make a fuss about it, I mean why should you have to put up with this?

I find it so weird that support would call you a pirate (you and Nex). When I had a problem with a serial number they asked me to take a photo of the game, the receipt and the serial number.

Once I did that they sent me a new key and banned the original key which was tied to another account.

I'm guessing because you don't have an adolescent voice? Also, the mood of the person who picks up the phone matters far more than company policy usually.

I dunno if he has the steam version of COD 4, but when I had to recover my hacked account on steam, they were pretty quick too. (Less than a day actually)

So?
Do you want them to take 3 days instead of three hours?

It took three hours? It took three hours for you to send them a video of yourself holding a copy of CoD4? And then they sent you a new serial within three hours of you sending it?

It sounds to me that you simply got impatient and decided to torrent it instead of waiting for a reply here

I could be wrong but it sounds very fishy, because it's a sunday, school holidays, and it took them three hours, because most technical services take a whole lot longer than that.

If it's a perfectly legit copy in the first place, how come the version number is 1.0.525? Surely it should just be 1.0 if it was installed straight from the CD?

Make sure you patch to v1.7 if the game is working perfectly for you now.

I'll throw in a little defense here, instead of automatically assuming the 'p' word.

Quick: It's not impossible for customer services to be quick, if you've caught them at the right time, it's quite possible they'll be quick - if they receive the video and watch it and they know it's you, the customer, then what reason do they have to stall? It's not like an investigation is needed. If videos suffice, then 3 hours isn't unbelievable for customer services to solve a problem. Customer services can sometimes be efficient.

Game versions: Do all game versions of CoD4 comes as 1.0? Because not all games do, later released version (GoTY, special editions, cheaper versions etc.) might have an updated version. I don't think all games I've installed have been version 1.0

And well, we know GJ isn't a Pastafarian, so he's definitely not a pirate, yearrgh! Ye sail the seven seas for pasta!

That was easily the most suspicious FSM reference I have ever seen. Good job.

Yeah, I think calling pirate is probably a bit premature here.

Some releases come at different versions. A version of Fallout II released in Germany with no blood or children is unique to that country.

If the person who posted that pic is actually above 16, then feel free to repost. But please, we don't want to see you if you're below that age. And no, I'm not going to name who it was

There are 12 year olds on this forum?!

Anyway, like Sep said, give support another call. It's weird that a new serial that they gave you has already been generated by someone else within... 24 hours or so, but I guess you'll just have to keep getting a new one from support until you get one that works.

I can't see how it would be a problem with your PC.
