Hi,

I know none of you actually care about this, but I just wanted to shout it out! I passed today with only 2 minor faults (for the same place ) and am absolutely loving the new freedom I've got. Almost got a speeding ticket after only 2 hours, so I'm kinda being more careful now though.

Well done.

Now as you are finding out, going like a bat of hell is great, but remember its how quick you can stop that the most important bit, because if you don't there be a lot of question and paper work to do.

You've learned how to control the car, now go and learn how to drive it.

Happy driving.

Plus keep any eye on the fuel gauge as running out means a long walk to get fuel.

Congrats, welcome to the world of drivers! I've got my driving license back in September, but I never came close to getting a ticket yet(hence no cops saw me), but I got into some ruff stuff with my car!

Be careful out there and try to drive safe because, in the end, that license you just got is a license of responsibility! You not just risking your life, but also the life of others!

Anywho, congrats mate.

...A speeding ticket almost two hours after getting it? That's exactly why I don't like driving. I've got my license, but I very rarely go out. I mean, it's good that you passed, but you can't be irresponsible and go around speeding / not following standard driving procedures. It's not my driving I fear, it's the other drivers. When I go out and drive, I always assume that the other driver isn't paying attention or they don't have brakes, helps you get in the mind frame that people are unpredictable.

Ahhh. Good old American speeding tickets. You just get fined don't you? In this country, as a new driver, if you get caught speeding twice as a new driver, you're banned from driving!

As much as I hate it, I agree. I don't want to be hit by a new school boy racer.

That is true. I mean look at some of the morons on the road, if you lose your license, there's a lesson to be learned. When you're on the road your not only responsible for your own life, but the lives of others, so you ought to be trusted, if not, then sod off the road I say. (Bad driving is major rant for me, generally because it means death)

You guys would hate Ohio. Not only do we harbor the worst drivers in the states, but we have people driving who have over 20 DUI's and then you got the older drivers who cant' see over the steering wheel...

Ah, and when we start to see snow, you will never see more wrecks occur in one area then here.

I'm guessing it's also easier for them to pass their test, thanks to the use of automatics (whereas inability to control a manual properly is a good 'catchment net' for keeping quite a few stupid people off the road over here )

Here down under we have to complete 50 hours driving before moving onto our provisional licence where we have to wait another 2 years I think before we get our full licence! And in between all that process we have about three major make-or-break tests to complete.

As to fines, my brother was driving up our home street and unbuckled his seat belt, the cops saw him, did a full 180 turn (I think that's the right angle!) pulled him over and issued an AUS$270 fine. That's,
US$243
UK (INSERT POUND SIGN)150 Pounds

It's insane here lol

Plus P-Plate drivers (those who have passed their test but still have to wait the 2 years to get the full license) can only have a limited amount of passengers depending on the time of day.

BUT even after all that, there's still teenagers who have died in reckless car accidents on the news weekly.

Nope, it's 120 hours now. Every hour with a driving instructor counts as 3 though, which takes a bit of the strain off parents.

Thought that was only in Queensland? They didn't send me anything so I'm only doing 50! lol

When I'm learning it sometimes seems like most of the other cars aim at the one with the L plates, and then accelerate

Take for example my second lesson, when I was on an empty industrial estate, practising turning right (bearing in mind we drive on the left here!) onto a side road. Just before I turned, a car shot past doing at least 60MPH. Luckily I saw him before I turned, but it could have been VERY nasty.

And that was just one of the many scenarios which have happened

Yeah, sorry about that... =P

Congrats mate, I passed in september and for me anyway, I dunno how I used to walk everywhere! Driving is soo much easier, but I have noticed my drivings gone downhill since I passed. I'm far more casual and relaxed now, but thats not necessarily a good thing!

You have gotta be careful though, I think its 6 points and you lose your licence for two years, I know someone who lost theirs on the day they passed..
