I need a topic for a game for a competition in April. I want something involving 3d, perhaps with a lil simple modelling.

this is a serious thread, so try and post serious ideas. just post anything that might give me some inspiration.

Ik this is pretty vague but im lost as to what to code

Well, I found the mushrooms and stars at the bottom of your post quite inspiring. So why not make a little 2.5D platformer involving jumping on mushrooms and collecting stars. (Just make it so it doesn't remind people too much of Mario)

Failing that you could try something I once tried which was to make a game based on the forum.

I think the current standing example of this sort of idea is TGC Heroes, but I was thinking more along the lines of using the actual forum structure for the levels. (I'm not sure how you'd do this in 3D though. )

when I get a block on something to do I usually do 2 things:
1. Play some games for inspiration
2. Get a little high so I'm in between feeling amazing, and having some common sense, although I don't recommend this option... just something I do. (I do get results though lol)

Arnt we all?, ive actually got a pre alpha version from Xarshi for my NaGaCreMo. But i cant use it for my current project as i only got it for my NaGaCreMo. But its worth the wait .

Back on topic, i think the main part of game development is thinking laterally. There are so many games which have basically the same plot, you know, zombies are invading, kil them all. Ive allways wanted to make a game themed around religion but ive always be drawn away from my idea because of all the extremist’s in the world.

Think of something spectacular, and interesting. Take Bioshock for example, rapture was this vast city underwater, the art deco style was unique to games. What would your heavenly city be like?. Draw some ideas up, do some small 3d mockups. See what works out for you.

Hey smartguy
Turn off your PC and go do something else. You wont get inspired just sitting there.

Buy a notepad, anytime you ever have any ideas jot them down.

Heck i have a book of over 300 ideas, not that even 5% of them will ever be made but I'll always have them for a selection of random ideas.

Another idea is http://norefuge.net/vgng/vgng.html <-- just keep clicking till you get a decent name for a game and wolla base the game of that.. I got "Zombies on Skates"

Another: Go to newgrounds or any flash website keep clicking through their game section, write down what you most liked about each one, and try make a game either based on one of these games or.... agh.. 1am.. too late to be typing this much.
