I would just like to announce the opening of my new Game Store, and my first official business - videogamewagon!

Right now I am still adding products to the store.. So you might not see a product you wish to see on their for a while. Feel free to post any comments and suggestions and wish me luck I guess!

BTW, ask if you want to see anything special, and because I know you guys pretty well, I might even be able to cut you a few deals

sorry, not this site is like a regular game selling site, such as game stop or something.

Buttttt... I guess I will throw in a little sneak peak of something else I was making that will allow people to upload their own stuff:

http://fpgamingmedia.com/

That one still needs a little bit of work though.

No no.. It can be any game really. I just only have FPSC crap on their right now. Actually, you know it doesn't even have to be a game. It can be a model or anything.

Do you really need the weights on there? They all seem to be the same anyway.

How did you start this up?
Are you running out of your garage atm?

Well, im not sure right now. It's going to be somewhere between 10-20%. Where im getting the 10-20% and your getting the 90-80%. I know when I sent out emails I might have said a little smaller but I figured out I probably wont be able to keep it open if I go under 10%.

About your second question im not really sure what you mean. Im only having the one website, if you want to sell it on another website.. go for it.

Well, the program im using makes me type in the weights.. idk why. I started this up by thinking, it would be a cool idea to sell games. Originally I was going to have renting on the site to, where I was going to run a rental service.. but idk if im still going to do that. Its still possible though.

Yes, I am running this out of my garage.. well actually my bedroom

BUT, I'm not actually hosting out of my garage, I have an actual host.

Cool site, but I have to ask, why? Are you selling your own old used games? Or are you selling new copies? And why should someone buy from you instead of an established company like Gamestop? Does yours have cheaper games?

No, these are brand new games.. I get them from a supplier. It depends really, some games are cheaper and some are more expensive. It all comes down to what price I can get the games for from my supplier.

For example:

My biggest game right is Resistance: Retribution for the PSP, because im able to sell it at $24.99 while gamestop is selling it for $39.99 and its not even available online if you were going to buy it through them, and even their used copy is selling for $27.99.

Edit: Right now im really working on getting a Credit Card Payment ready and then I might also get Google Checkout, so it will be those 2 with Paypal for Checkout options. Im also working on more shipping options so you can pick which you would like.

Edit2: Website will be shut down for a while, some changes need to be made.

Edit3: NVM, its up and available now.

Two new deals from Video Game Wagon!

Purchase $70 or more and get free shipping and all PS3 Accessories are 5% off!

Also, if you spend $100 or more you can use the coupon code below to get 15% off!

Quote: "GQ18D6W9P70M"

So if you spend $100, your order will be discounted to $75 AND you will get free shipping!

Can someone just buy something.. I don't have any sales yet. Or at least put some rumors out on how such a good store this is.. :~(

It doesn't?

If your order is over $75 then you get free shipping.

Now, if your order was exactly $100, you would qualify for free shipping and qualify for the coupon code. Their for when you use the coupon code your order would be $100 - 15% and that would be $75. So your order would be $75 + Shipping, but since its free shipping it would be $75.

$100 - 0.15 * 100 = $85

So is the coupon code 25% rather than 15%?

I guess I should have been more clear

As Keo C stated above--- a 15% discount off $100 would be $85, not $75.

You have a great site going here with good prices. I'm thinking of saving up to buy a 120gb Hard drive for my 360 from it, but the price is $99.99. I'm afraid that doesn't get the 15% discount added to it, does it? It'd be a shame if it didn't.

Very nice site. You've achieved the professional/trusted look of a website that so little start up companies do!

Although I'm not sure why you would have a donate button on the bottom of the page, considering you are running a shop.
For me it takes away that professional feel a little, although it could be just me.

Also these pages seem a little empty (and I think there are a few of them):
http://videogamewagon.com/categories.php?category=Pre%252dOrders

You could split all that white space into 3 sections, and perhaps have a picture of the corresponding console?

For example:

Technically it should not get the discount, but I may be able to cut you a deal. Just tell me when your ready to purchase it.

Thank you. It has been very hard filling up all the pages. Its very time consuming to get pictures for every product and set the price, weight, etc.. As for the pre-orders im not sure if I will ever get it filled and I might just have to delete the page because my supplier never seems to have pre-orders. So if I wanted pre-orders, I would have to get a list of games and when someone wants to pre-order it I would have to go and pre-order it from gamestop or something and then ship it to the person. Which would cost me more $60 + shipping.

Alright, Video Game Wagon isn't going to good. I can't really keep up with all the new games coming out.. and I don't really have any sales. I kind of figured this would happen before I even started it so it was really just kind of a test. Im probably going to shut the store down but I might use the domain for something else.

Do you guys have any ideas on what I could use the domain for?

I had made a post a while ago about hosting users games for everyone. It was originally going to cost money but I think I could do it for free and maybe make some money off of some other stuff. What would you guys think about that idea, and what would you think if I put sort of a social network feel to it??

Yeah, an Indie developer store is a great way to get people started in the Video Game industry, plus with a new medium for sales, there is likely to be more interested in creating their games in the first place.

My 2c would be if this store is something you really want to do, don't give up on it so quickly. Assuming it was fairly newly released when you started this thread, it's less than a month old. That doesn't give you nearly enough time to advertise, network, and build. If you put your mind to it and work harder on advertising outward about the internet, you will probably have at least slightly better luck. Just don't throw in the towel so quickly, I would say.

Well, I think it will be a good idea, it'll also open up a bigger market for you. This'll lead into a lot more profit(and more games to sell), as you are also opening up to more, and bare in mind that alot of people love to play Indie games. Hell, if you wanted to you could even start publishing indie games, to get some more profit. So Robert F you are pretty much in a win win situation.

Coming to think of it, ive never come across a website that specializes in indie games. I think it would be a cool idea, and quite unique. Though the idea has lots of scope to be ruinined. Firstly theres the problem of revenue, you could take a split of all the profits of games sold(as their indie games), but then who manages distrobution and burning of cd's dvd's ect ect?, best bet in my oppinion would be a download only system.

Secondly, Indie games are a sketchy subject. Many are very good indeed, but evrey so often you get a turd by some one who thinks its a master piece. Selling a game which is worse than a buggy online flash game is not a good thing, it has quite alot of potential to take down your buisness.

Plus with the current contraversy of video game prices, a proffesional indie game store could easily grow if marketed correctly. The problem you seem to be having with not being able to keep up with new releases would also be eliminated.

Though remember, just my two cents :p

An indie game shop would be somewhat backward. One of the great freedoms of indie development is that the distribution doesn't cost. So why would you shackle it by going physical?

(It would only ever make sense distributed via someone pretty massive who could put advertising money behind it etc.)

Thats why i outline that in my idea the method of delivery must be download. The website would just recieve a small commision for allowing the publishers to place their games on the site.

The real advantage to the site would come in the prices and exposure. You cant expect an indie game to be as much as a commercial title, drawing in casual gamers. The developer also gets exposure for his game by publishing it via the site.

[EDIT]

Blobby, i have seen Games Torpedo, Games Torpedo though does not allow for selling a game.

I would like to see a Steam-like service that's just for indie games. Yes, Steam adds indie games to their service all the time, but often the big publishers with their AAA budgets take the limelight and the indie games get buried.

@David R - Wow, I've never heard of Greenhouse, thanks for the link! There's also an invite-only beta of a distribution system for indie titles, but I can't remember the name. It's not available to the masses yet, anyway, but it's getting backed by a lot of the big names in the indie scene. Should be cool
