Hey all,

I bought a no name USB 2.0 PCI card on Ebay a couple of days ago. It arrived today and I installed it in my computer, an old XP box with slightly upgraded components(more ram, big HD).

I'm a little sketchy on the sequence of events, but it obviously was not working to begin with, and after brief research I read that WindowsXP SP2 is needed for USB 2.0 functionality. I installed this.

The issue I'm having is as follows:
1.) I plug in a USB thumb drive or external harddrive
2.) It takes much longer than usual to appear to establish a connection
3.) When It finally seems good to go, I go to My Computer and click on it.
4.) An error message pops up: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"
5.) I am unable to access my files

Both devices work when plugged into the integrated USB ports.

I read briefly online about IRQ conflicts. I discovered via Device Manager that two of the USB Host Controllers both share IRQ 9. I disabled one of them, and tried all 4 USB ports on the PCI card. Same issue.

Has anyone experienced a problem like this before, and do you know the solution?

Thank you for your time.

I think is a problem of your PCI card (BandWidth) of this, and maybe too the transference is bad

Do you mean an issue with the PCI card itself, or perhaps the motherboard/PCI interface?

What do you mean by bandwidth and transference?
