Microsoft just revealed its new phone OS, Windows Phone 7 Series! Looks like they did a complete overhaul. Integrated Zune. Snazzy interface. No stylus!

Interestingly, it has *4* point multi-touch capability, integrates Pandora into the Zune software, and features......drum roll......Xbox Live! Yes, you will actually be able to earn achievements on your phone. There will be a lot more on the gaming side of the software in the coming months; they just scratched the surface this morning. I think it looks awesome!

Here's the link to the live coverage of the press event (make sure you start at the bottom):

And a complete video walk-through of the interface (via MSDN):

Yeah. Apple may have made something unique with the iPhone, but now so many other phones have copied and built on the interface that it looks old\typical.

I've heard it no longer multitasks and instead works like the iPhone.

More than a bit of a step backwards.

Athlon64 2.7gHz->OC 3.9gHz, 31C, MSi 9500GT->OC 1gHz core/2gHz memory, 48C, 4Gb DDR2 667, 500Gb Seagate + 80Gb Maxtor + 40Gb Maxtor = 620Gb, XP Home
Air cooled, total cost £160

Not quite. Apparently default apps have the ability to run in the background, as well as music, but so far third-party apps can not. I don't get why they wouldn't create the ability to multi-task everything, unless phone hardware just isn't there yet. Or maybe the demand for that type of multi-tasking doesn't exist?

A promised feature of software 4.0 is the ability to multitask. Forget where I read it...but it was a quote from Apple. It will be using an interface much like Spaces for the Mac OSX to switch between programs. Or, like alt+tabbing on your keyboard.
