The Demo was great, but didn't run well on my computer, oh well

The 2d art was fantastic, the voice overs sounded great, no one sounded like they were reading from a script.

The Level design was good,

Overall a very worthy BOTB

come see night shift at http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=106003&b=25 see you there

I just tried this demo and it was amazing! Unfortunately I didn't complete it because I fell through the floor TWICE!

Anyway, the whole game was presented very professionally. The voice acting was top-notch, the level design was good, the OST was beyond FPSC-expectations, and the small little details you added such as the cursor changing when you are looking at a PDA with the screen slightly zooming in only contributed even more to this game's awesome-ness! Not to forget, the whole key card system is ahead of it's time!

The gameplay was great too! The Shroudling that you first encounter scared me a bit, partly because of the music.

Overall, I'd give this a 9/10! If those pesky FPSC collision problems can be fixed, this game would be almost perfect. I definitely can agree it is BOTB-quality.

People dont read do they?

As I said in my first post,

"Collision errors: Users have had issues with collisions while motion blur is on. To turn off motion blur, download the loader update with the motion setting enabled and then disable motion blur via options."

I actually had these issues with motion blur turned off. I downloaded the patch before I even played the game because I knew that it might lag my computer.

@Cyclone,

Thank you kind sir. It's always good to have something unique in your game without (sorry to sound harsh) newb children having it with no effort on their part in making it.

Yep, that is why I'll try to figure this one out on my own

I've never been one to beg or ask for scripts, after all this is the only way to master fpi scripting.

Anyways forgot to mention this in last post, but suburb game! Yeah there was some iffy level bugs here and there but nothing you can't fix.

PS. Love the website.

after playing some of this, I have to say its very good, although not the best it could be.

I know its annoying, but a rebuild could be the best way forward for this, would be excellent

haven't played it all, will get back to it some time

(PS this already exceeds the VBOTB entries in my opinion)

@lewis: Almost everything has been told, your game is a gem and if you correct things Wolf pointed out, we'll get the best Fpsc game ever made. Your demo was a pleasure to play, the first monster was frightning, congrats!

@French gui,
Strange.. did you play that level after loading or play straight through?

@WhiteWolf,
Not a script. You make an image and set the image in the buildgame settings.

No, never saved. Maybe it's something with it's shader and my graphic card ? (geforce 9500 GT)

[edit] no, I've made a test level with him and it's standart shader, it appear correctly...

@French gui,
Hm.. I used another shader for it which made it compatible with ATI users. Maybe it's because your card is a non ATI card.

I didn't see the dante teh first time, but since then I've seen it every friggi' time I've played this.

Oh and Wolf: I counted the average value of your %s and it didn't come up with 79, it was 74 (rounded). Just saying, if you counted it like that...

Normally, I don't have time to play games, but through a series of emails and links, I found myself playing a few levels of Alpha Project and I was gob-smacked. It feels slick and professional, and really pulls you into the plight of the character. The 'look behind you' trick was classic, had my heart thumping, so thanks for that! Reminded me of those System Shock II moments where you hear them scraping about, and you know they're going to eat you, and all you have is a stick, but you have to keep moving forward. Personally, it has inspired me to put some of those nice features into the official version of FPSC such as fast 60fps which gives you that slick control over the mouselook and movement. The scripting took me by surprise. I knew it was possible in theory to do nice things with the FPI system, but to see it blended with great graphics and practical game requirements gave me a real buzz. Amazing talent, very inspiring. Lee wants more!

@LeeBamber,

Thanks for the comment and compliments! It certainley means a lot coming from the creator of the software that I'm using to make this game a reality.

Things are only going to be getting better with the game, and the more features you add into fpsc, the more this game will get gobsmacking!

Edit- Oh, and most of the FPI I did myself pretty much nothing that was stock was used.

Heres a video of a bug I found, I don't know what the problem is really.

http://thebestgpt.com/videos/alpha_WMV V9.wmv

Also I know my pc has good spec, except not the best video-card but if it all loads, it still should run fine. I download

the demo the 24th.

6GB of Ram
2.60GHZ
64-bit

Like I said should un good, but I get this bug everytime.

PS: I had one h*ll of a time trying to upload this to anywhere, I have no clue why, so I had to upload it to a domain name of mine. Soy if you have to download, but I think it can also play just online.

OH, and I forgot to mention, that teh mask hud has a nice effect going on, when there is something inhuman going on. Like when there is an enemy close somewhere. It starts blinking, that was a nice one.

Welcome,
I was play yours demo and what I say:

In plus:
- nice non-FPSC soft environment (install, animated intro)
- very pro soundzones (which program do U use?)
- incredible good idea and animation with card
- good characters (but I know this Bond's fellows)

In minus:
- common story (if U have do something original - story is crucial thing - must be another that used in almost 50 FPS (not only FPSC made) all around the world)
- U don't beat effect used with current FPS so one more time use original story (gamers must play the game and not only kill one more zombie)
- use more different textures (segments are so the same with this blood all over all levels in this same place - maybe use decals)
- levels are so the same in almost whole demo
- blob shadow of character (is not Your fault but better without this)
- and the worst - woman in the end - she is talking but she is not using mouth - buy some of Daniel's talking people.

I will give U BOTB badge too

Best luck
Mr Game

Liked it a lot, great atmosphere.
But there was to much "FPSC errors" to give that extra
For example there were a green outline of the blood, the zombiedog lit up to much/to shiny.

But one of ht ebetter games I have played made with FPSC.

Great work!

8.5/10

@Mr Game,

I'm going to disagree with you on some of those 'In minus:' parts:

Quote: "- common story (if U have do something original - story is crucial thing - must be another that used in almost 50 FPS (not only FPSC made) all around the world)"

Name at least 5 FPSC games that have voice acting, a video introduction and a story as extensive as the one I have in their game, and then I will agree with you. The game is a DEMO. How do you know what the game's story is going to be like once it is completed?

Quote: "- U don't beat effect used with current FPS so one more time use original story (gamers must play the game and not only kill one more zombie)"

Just because I dont have many enemies in the game makes it minus? It's meant to be a horror game. It isn't Left 4 Dead where the enemies are constantly spawning and coming at you. If you want to play a zombie shooter game, dont play mine. Im going for the scare factor, not 'House of the dead'.

Quote: "- use more different textures (segments are so the same with this blood all over all levels in this same place - maybe use decals)"

If you looked in the Dev thread in the WIP forum, you'd see that the game has had a graphical rehaul.

Quote: "- levels are so the same in almost whole demo"

That's because it's a demo.

Quote: "- and the worst - woman in the end - she is talking but she is not using mouth - buy some of Daniel's talking people."

I dont want to sound nasty, but you seriously think those talking characters are of good quality? The style would DEFINATLEY not fit in with Alpha Project. I'd rather have a character that is proportioned and modelled correctly than an off scaled character.

@Cyborg ART,

The FPSC Errors are not my fault. The green blood has been fixed, and as for the zombie dog, that's the shader it is using. I'll look into finding one that's compatible with the lighting.

Hey Lewis, as you're using Project Blue which has Airmod, why not use Air Mod's bloodspurt commands on the enemies for more realistic blood? It would look pretty cool...

I agree with you Lewis. Also the blob shadows... there is so far no way to make it so, that they don't appear.

@darimc,

I wasn't flipping out. If I was, then you would know. I've been professional in my replies to people. You have no idea how much I've been bugged by people for me to release the source to my features, asking me how to do things, and just generally being annoying. You cant exactly blame me for not being a tad annoyed. Every day I have to deal with people's questions and requests and downright selfishness, so please respect that so far I've kept a clear head.

You should expand it, more levels, more zombies, but you realy scared me off OMG.
I was waiting for that door to open.
I hearn scary music, so i was getting ready for what whould be behind that door.
AND OMG IT WAS BEHIND ME
and my heart was realy upset xD
so, u made me have fun!
and it was so realistic, when i saw this, it was more like:
if this guy, made an new Call of Duty, and mixed multiplayer and singleplayer in one map, and made an installation, and another icon, and off course more action and more levels, i SURELY whould prefer this ABOVE Call of Duty 4!
One of the games i love the most
and if you whould use X10, maybe you whould be better then Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, so, go on
and please PM me when you made your next game release!

You know, it's games like this and Canalyst that make me mad...

...Why are all the good FPSC games HORROR games? I hate being scared...But it's so good so I have to play it...But I can't because it's scary...

It makes my brain asplode.

But seriously, great game. I was super freaked out with the zombie. It broke after going to the thrid level, however. (in all honesty after the zombie I was a bit happy. )

Not all games have to be scary, but an scary games makes it a lot more fun!
Especially the way he was using his skills, and the (almost?) endless possibillities of FPSCreator.
The way to make you be scared, story markers, the choice of weapons, the effects, the HUD, the talking, the way zombies came up, the way one dissapeared, and later came back, the good looking maps, the loading screens, and the awesome voices.
They all made me LOVE this game!
And its also just an demo
So i can't wait until that full game is out
He realy should also start on a multiplayer!

This is the best FPSC experience I've had, because It didn't felt like a FPSC, it felt like a pro game.

Thumbs up, it's great! Just had some crash with a save, but besides that, it's excellent, really really good.

Amazing game to say the least. I loved every bit of it and was off my seat from level 1 to the end. If there were say 20 levels, I would gladly pay $10 USD for it.

I'm still bewildered on how you got FPSC to look so good, but congrats on doing so.

Lookin' forward,

I'll be honest, the zombie didn't scare me simply because I was expecting one to pop up sometime soon (and where better place than a corridor), so I was looking behind me as I opened the door Once again, great work Lewis.

@joannis11,

Please understand that it isnt a generic zombie shoot them up. The reason why it scared you was because that's what I'm going for in the game. I'm trying to make it a scary game, not an action game. Also, these things you fight arent zombies.

In my games story, the specimens are actually still alive and living. But because they have been experimented on and turned into these nasty creatures, they slowly went insane. Not one of them died and were reanimated like zombies are.

@Shadowtroid,

Sorry that it scared you.. Although I'm proud that it has because I achieved what I was going for!

@alimpo83,

I really hope that they get the save problems fixed, because it's causing issues with my game. I cant help this because it's the source and not what I've done to make the problems

@fpscx10noob,

Um.. why ask that in my thread? There's a chat forum you can ask that in

@Pride,

Thanks! I was thinking about 20-30 or so levels for the full game. Well it depends how long the story is and how big the levels are really!

@Marc Steene,

Cheater Well I'm going to have to find other ways for them get you, arent I?
