Not really sure how many other members here are big fans of the Resident Evil franchise, but I just finished downloading a new patch for RE5, which added an "Extra Content" menu. After doing a little searching online, I found out the new downloadable content will be available on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in a few days. New costumes, new characters and moves for the Mercenaries mini-game, and what has me excited; a new storyline featuring Chris and Jill.

Apparently, this isn't "recent" news, but it's the first time I've heard anything about it. Wondering if anyone else is going to be getting the upgrade pack.

Sweet! I've got some cash laying around so I might pick up the gold edition when it comes out, although I don't like the idea of watching after two people. I enjoyed RE4 all the way up to getting the president's daughter but after that my enjoyment slowly faded, and I have a feeling the same will happen with this game cause' of Jill. Oh well I guess I'll just have to find out! Thanks for the info kraven

@Kravenwolf- I can't tell you how impressed I was with this game's co-op action. Have you heard any word on how much the Lost in the Nightmares Pack was going to cost for the PS3? The only thing that bothers me about this update is you have to buy separate the extra costume pack 1, when it could have easily been thrown in for good measure with this level.

Microtransactions are how they make their money.I am a big RE fan and can't wait to see how this turns out.

Even though I prefer the traditional survival horror style that the Resident Evil series used to be, the CO-OP in RE5 IMO, is what makes the game terrific. And I think the idea of releasing new add-on "chapters" like Lost in Nightmares was a great idea on CAPCOM'S part. It will definately keep the fans busy until they get started on Resident Evil 6.

I heard the Lost in Nightmares Story is only going to cost $5.00 in the PS Store, or 400 "Microsoft Points" (I assume that would be for the 360). Can't really beat that for an extra 2 hours of gameplay, and a whole new storyline.

@Kravenwolf- I read a review on Lost in Nightmares and they hinted at a mode where you had to defend yourself from Zombies for a certain amount of time and once you received an 'A' rating on the majoirty of them you unlocked Chris and Sheva's costume pack 1 outfits for that mode. Is that true, have you tried this?

I loved RE4, and still play it now and again, but playing it makes me want to program, I might get RE5 soon for PC as its coming down to my price range now, (Around £10).

Does anyone know that the PC version is like, hopefully its not buggy like GTA.

Played the Lost in Nightmares episode a few times since the 18th. It was definately worth the $5 and then some. It was basically the Resident Evil: Remake, with RE5 controls and CO-OP. It looks like CAPCOM is starting to take my favorite game series back to it's survival horror roots. I wouldn't mind at all if this is what they do with RE6

My Review: (+SPOILER ALERT+)

@Beast E Gargoyle, yeah, it's called "Mercenaries" mode. The Lost in Nightmares DLC episode comes with a new Mercenaries mode called "Mercenaries Reunion", which has new characters and attacks.

Unfortunately, you have to purchase new DLC to get the new characters for it. Chris, Sheva, Barry, and Excella are included with Lost in Nightmares. Alt. Chris and Sheva, and Rebecca and Josh come with Desperate Escape (another DLC episode coming out in March).

@MSon, that's funny. The first time I played RE4 is what got me interested in 3D modeling and level design Anyway, I haven't played the PC version, so I don't know if it's buggy or not. But I do know that this new downloadable content isn't available for the PC version.

Heard about this quite awile back. Wonder if they'll release a disc version on the 360? IDK though... R.E. 5 was somewhat of an overall lackluster for me. Co-Op felt VERY awkward, but that could change with the new scenario coming out(Jill Valentine!!!). And killing off bolth Wesker AND Spencer didn't do anything to help the series' fanbase. I highly doubt R.E. 6 will be even slightly horror based. From what I heard, it will be an all new story, all new characters, and all new gameplay mechanics. Based on what I saw in R.E. 5, it will probably be just some Gears Of War Ripoff. Capcom themselves even said that Gears 2 was a direct infulence behind R.E. 5's Gameplay.

Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape (New DLC)

I know there wasn't a lot of people following the first DLC here, but I just thought I'd throw it out there, that another DLC for RE5 is coming out for the PS3 in a few hours. This ones features Jill and Josh. It's another new storyline chapter, as well as a few new playable characters for the Mercenaries Reunion. I believe this expasion will also cost $5.00.

@Kravenwolf - Man, I loved Desperate Escape more than Lost in the Nightmares. I heard awhile back when RE: Gold Edition was announced that Mercenaries Reunion would include an extra character for the disc based version of the extra content over the DLC episodes. Has that been confirmed yet?

Can't say for sure. I've purchased both DLCS and I'm still missing 2 Mercenaries Reunion characters. So unless they'll be up in the store for seperate purchase, they might be disc-exclusives

Independantly, no. But RE5 Gold is already out. It has the original storyline, the extra two chapters, every new character costume for the Mercenaries, etc, etc. Link

The Gold Edition comes with every extra character for Mercs Reunion;

Sheva (Fairytale)
Sheva (Business)
Josh
Chris (Warrior)
Chris (Heavy Metal)
Excella
Barry
Rebecca

If you purchase the DLC, Barry and Excella come with Lost in Nightmares, Rebecca and Josh come with Desperate Escape, and Sheva (Fairytale) and Chris (Warrior) come as a seperate $2.00 costume pack (I think I got it right )

That's good to know. Lookin at the screens right now. It appears that the graphics are intact(assuming they ported the original version into this). So just how much more gameplay time do the new scenarios add overall?

I ran through Lost in Nightmares in about 30 minutes on Veteran, and Desperate Escape in about an hour.
