Just for a backround info, i live in russia and every male over 18 is supposed to serve in the military for one year, if you dont, you cannot get a job at any government institution (private businesses dont care if you served or not).

I never served in the army and i dont want to, especially the russian army. And apperently i forgot everything said above when i went to a job interviewat an institute of sociology which is part of a state school system called russian academy of sciences. After the interview was over i thought it was the most appropriate time to make this comic about what happened at the interview.

for those who dont know (maybe youre from another country), this is a popular internet meme originated on 4chan i think.

such a dissapointment

That does suck, but I guess at least you have the option not to serve. Good luck finding another job though.

Ouch, that really sucks

And I hate things like that - where you're told "You're the best for the position etc." and then "but we can't accept you because of XYZ". I had emails like that when I applied for my degree course - "We were extremely impressed [blah blah] but since you do not hold an A Level in mathematics we cannot offer you a place"

well i actually have no choice its just that over the years i spent in america, (while remaining a russian citizen) the army lost track of me. But the lady who was intervieing said that its possible for me to work trough a contract (all the government jobs are kept track trough a central database where you have to be recorded in when you take the job) and this contract supposed to avoid any stuff like the army and it really sounds like she was actually offering me to work under the table but right now they have no money in the budget to get this contract, I am really not sure what all that means but it really sounds like she wants me to work unofficially for her and that involves someone on the inside to be given a bribe. So i thought about it and emailed her later asking if its gonna help me get a job there i can help out with their "financial limitations"

Russia is such a sketchy place

but really, the interviewer was infact very impressed, she said it herself that it sucks that you have the army problem, because i would really love for you to work here

That really does suck. A bit odd that you can't join a Government Institution without Army experience. I guess that makes me all the luckier being born in England where anyone can get any job they want, well you see that by just looking at our prime minister.

I live in America, where you have to be handsome in order to win. So what now.

Yeah. It's not as good as some people say it is over here...However it's not as bad. When I went to london, it was exactly like America...But with different accents and older buildings. Other than that, it was pretty similar.

When i lived in america the only job i could even get an interview of was Mcdonalds. But in moscow, i had plenty if interviews and one job as a service engeneer which i got fired from recently, but at least it was something. Interviewers in moscow dont look for the highest standard like in US. but yet again in US (massachussetts) everything has to be high standard which pisses me off.

We've obviously been to very different Londons then. I find it nothing like America.

I got the final decline today for this job, i guess they are not as sketchy as i thought. It wasa good job too, no dresscode, working with people my age, job security, seasonal vacations and the boss semmed to be really chill.

i had an interview where they told me i was their top choice out of 5 (they were hiring 3)... but they never called me back... (i left a message on their answering machine and e-mailed them, etc)

found out later they were busy firing people because of the economy and they definitely weren't hiring any more.

i think the guy who interviewed me got fired lol

Seriously? It seemed very similar... I mean, the biggest difference to me was the people...They were much thinner.

But I guess I was at the touristy part, and it seemed very similar...Lots of fast food, gift shops, etc. etc. THough there were more street performers. That was cool.
