ok, so basically i'm trying to get webcam features to work on my MacBook Pro using aMSN... all the other person sees is white

so in the options for aMSN it has a tester for port forwarding and the like... when i run the test it says i am behind a firewall or router...

so to narrow the scope of the problem i plugged the direct ethernet output from my modem to my macbook (rather than through the router) and i turned off the firewall on my macbook.

i ran the test again, and it still says "you are behind a router or firewall"

so basically, WTF?

does anyone here more knowledgeable on this subject than me know a solution?

Stop using mac.

Jokes, does the modem have an inbuilt firewall?

Most routers will have a firewall built into them. If you need to portforward then you must go to the router config page and add it from there.

no, i have tried port forwarding already and it doesnt work... the test that i did above shows that the problem exists between the ISP and modem, not between the Modem, Router and Computer.

as for a firewall in the modem, i have no idea... there isnt one that i know of, and if there was, i wouldnt know where to access the modem's settings

also, the firewall of the router is turned off too... but that makes no difference right now as proven by my last test.
