It seems strange to me that we can't embed youtube videos into threads here. I think more people would get feedback on their development threads if they could embed update videos.
sorry, just ranting.

Agreed. But embedding things into forum messages can lead to trouble.

There's been a few threads about this now. The same arguments are brought up each time.

Its forum functionality vs. noob abuse.

Just allow youtube embeds, nothing else. A /youtube tag should suffice.

But this argument has already been refuted, mods already have to check posts for offending material, allowing embedded youtube videos doesn't change a thing because we can already link to them, it's just a matter of indirection. Plus, Youtube videos don't play on their own, so V[o_o]V. Plus there's not really much to abuse, allowing anything to be embedded however would be an issue, but that's not what's being requested here.

I agree with it, but you should only be able to do this if you have 20+ posts or something post number wise.

Don't get me wrong, when I said its all about noob abuse, im not saying that is a problem, i meant thats what everyone argues. I'm totally for it.

I've been really busy with my job and moving, but I am trying to get a YouTube tag implemented here. I'll post here the results!

How 'bout only users who have been members for over a year can embed youtube vids?

No, that's unreasonable. It should be at least 4 years. : D

No, that's reasonable. It should be at least 3 and one half years and some days.

No. It should be 130 years. That way it never gets abused. Seriously though I just post links labeled "Youtube Video: (title here)".

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

Theres also the fact that youtube keeps a tight lockdown on what can be uploaded, so the chances of anything x-rated or the like being shown are slim to none.
