i have always wondered why people thought all PSP games are bad because i have found quite a few that are alot of fun. for instance
Grand Theft Auto liberty city stories, that game is just like any of the other GTAs on the PS2 (not PS3 because gta 4 is better) it seems to have alot of cars, big world, good guns, and many other that makes GTA great but some websites downgrade it because it is on the PSP! like Gta Liberty city stories is almost the same as GTA 3 and look what they rated the PSP Version http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/gtalibertycitystories/index.html

PS2 Version-http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/grandtheftauto3/index.html?tag=result;title;4
i mean is there something im missing out on or is there something wrong with psp games?

I liked god for war for psp, only complaint was that it only took 2 days to complete the game, I also liked playing snooker on it, but i gave it to my kid brother for christmas

I dont like the online store, as i brought all my games from cex, but the sony psp online store was 3 or 4 times more expensive.

psp ide give a 8/10
pspgo, id give 2/10, (because no umd, or equivalent so your stuck with the expensive online store)

I don't see how it can compete with the iPod Touch and iPhones. PSP games as a whole tend to be well put together but are let down by the control scheme. The DS has the best controls of any handheld, and the PSP has the worst, or close to the worst at least. I'm not sure how much this has improved with the PSPGO.

It's the thumb angle coefficient - I think Sony employees have their thumbs adjusted 45 degrees clockwise, so they design controls for them. It's just horrible for most games, the device itself is very capable but when you get hand cramp after 5 minutes that's besides the point.

The PSPGO needs the classic PSP games, Gran Turismo, GTA, the GTA incarnation is especially good. There should be a GTA4 style game for the PSPGO and an updated GT game, there's already Little Big Planet which looks great. This is all I've seen, or considered a buy-justifying feature of the PSPGO - if the controls are better, then I'd look into it, but also look into the Apple handhelds.

i think the PSP go is a waste of money, only thing changed over the 3000 model is its download only and its thinner (which is bad because it looks like i can snap it in half without even trying)
but i dont think the controls on the PSP are bad unless my thumb is adjusted 45 degrees clockwise.

psp slims quite hard to 'snap' as you said, and its controls are excellent, but it would be better if it had a touchscreen, pspgo is different, controls are auquard, smaller screen, i proffered my psp more than my old ds.

PSPs are rerally cool in my opinion, and have great games. i loved grand theft auto games (especially vice city stories) and a ton of other games. just sucks that the resolution is low but its a realy awesome game system. Its just as powerful as the ps2 itself but in a smaller package.

PSP is the best handheld gaming console, but i would profer an iphone, which you can still play some games on.

Does the iphone/ipod have enough power to run a game such as GTA?

I have 3 games for the psp, they all start with monster hunter.

Between those games i have clocked just over 1700 hours of play. lol we had fun. (this is about four years of play with about 6 friends. Four player coop is bliss.

No problems what so ever with the little time consuming devils. No hardware faults, nadaa, hell the joytick isnt that bad ethier considering the rape that is produced from the frantic gmeplay. At most i can say that would be remotely bad is the Wlan placement, it can accidently switch and leave you alone in a dark cave with a tigrex...

Its handy for long journeys, games are enjoyable, sturdy as hell, dropped thrown dropped and throw some more. The control system is better than a ipod's, sweaty hands + touch screen = eww. Normally the games arent as long as those on psp. Thier more like minigames in most cases.

Ds still seems childish aswell, its nintendo. Though i dont look at thier games all too often so am not entirly sure.

Well thats my opinion anyway. Sure the ipod is fancier and better open sourced but i still like it.

i love my PSP too, i think i have 12 games for it, i never saw what was wrong with the WLAN switch, i have only accidently turned it off about 3 times and i have had my PSP for 2 or 3 years now
i believe its the best console for serious gamers yet.

You don't have to buy Mario for the DS - they will let you leave the store without it. The DS has the widest selection of games, everything from survival horror to really intelligent adventures. It's the best for FPS, RTS and Platformers. This is from someone with an iPod, PSP, PocketPC, GP32X, DS, and Atari Lynx because I'm old school - I've played the DS more than any other hand held, put together, and doubled. Look up Hotel Dusk, Dementium:The Ward, Trackmania, KorgDS... hardly aimed at children.

My point is that it's not 1996, Nintendo make family friendly games, and that would be a problem if they were the only ones making DS games. It's not the same as it was with the SNES with it's censored MK blood. It's not the fastest handheld, but it has the most games, and more great games than the other handhelds.

i've always been a fan of nintendo, i think i always will, sure some of the games are kind of childish but there is more mature games there aswell.. //heck turok 2 for nintendo 64.... i got scared as heck from that game.. i was 12...\\ also as said b4 DS has awesome controls.

i recommend DS.. tho PSP seems fun aswell.

i have always thought the DS is a little confusing, having to focus your eyes on more than screen, but the concept of having the touchscreen is cool and i would like to have a DS, but it wouldnt be a requirement, especially at $169.00, which is way more than im willing to pay.

Theres plenty of touchscreen kits for the psp, But no games that use it, Thats one thing that would hugely improve the PSP.

Edit: Would it be possable to create a custom casing for a psp, Or would that cost too much?
I'd want this with the touchscreen kit and a mini keyboard attached looking like this, Oh, And a Memory Extension, (I got fed up of "Not Enough Memory" Messages).

i wish there was a keyboard for it so it would be worth installing windows on it.

Back in school, we had a bunch of sony haters in my class, they would always talk s*** about sony and how evil they are yet every one of those people had a PSP. exept for one bloke who was one of those fat extreme supernerds. He had a DS. Back then i was still running with my gameboy advanced. Its weird how i always fall behind the time in technology. When people had cd players, i still had my cassette player, then i got a crappy cd player that skipped at a poke of a finger. and people already had those rugged antiskip cd players, and then ipods. I still had mt cd player. everyone had GB advanced, i still had my gameboy color. I didnt even have a videogame console. had a PC and that was about it. In highschool i had this very old laptop with a pentium 2 that ran win 98. and everyone else already started getting dual core laptops. Finally i saved up enough money and got myself a gaming laptop, a mp3 player with 60 gb, 3 psps and some other stuff that was better than the stuff my friends had.

i just bought a PSP 3000, its pretty awesome, with the brighter screen and more vivid color its more like the HD PSP and the
microphone has good quality.overall im satisfied! but as i was saying before i dont see why people downgrade the PSP for no reason, i dont see any differences in the awesome combat on mortal kombat on the PSP than on the PS2. it makes no sense.

really its because i wanna show off, but subconciosly its proboly out of fear that a psp might break and i always want to keep spare parts around for things like that. too much stuff has broken on me in recent years

because electronic things tend to break. for example my digital camera which i loved because it was loaded with super custom firmware that gave it functions of a beefy SLR camera, one day the upper rich corner of the screen started getting blue and the pictures turned out the same. It was proboly a problem with a censor. If i had a spare cheap camera from the same model line, (which may have had something else broken) i would replace the censor without spending 150 on a new camera

I just got my PSP Go and I love it. The only thing is the downloads can take a while, and not even that if you install Media Go on your computer.

Well i just got to throw in my 2 cents here, I got my psp this latest Christmas and i love it. Personally i think Sony will always be ahead in making top of the line gaming consoles. Iv'e played a ds before and compared it to my psp and the psp I say has better graphics by far. I think the controls are pretty well placed and heck they are extremely durable, mines already survived a soda spill and about a 4 foot drop. Nintendo makes a good hand held but I believe that Sony has an edge for the serious gamer while the ds feels more like a casual game handheld. So both are great consoles but I love Sony and the psp, and I will always say if you are serious about gaming go with psp.

While war is evil and a sin to all man kind, we can not help it for it is just human nature.

I've just finished replaying God of War: Chains of Olympus. It's a really great game, but the fact that I really need to have it plugged in to play defeats the object of having a handheld console.

I've only got about 5 PSP games, but they've all been played to death. My favourite one is Gangs of London... It's not a great game by any means, but I really enjoy it.

gangs of london is a GREAT game. I love the mission where you play the british and where you wipe out the last of russians, that was a kickass mission. I still havent played trough most of the gangs. GTA games are awesome, i wish they had the san andreas (or at least san fierro or los santos or the las vegas stories games) sometimes i play it plugged in but usually you can play on battery for good 6hours.

Yeah but God of War is really power hungry due it's near constant use of the disc drive. It eats the battery like no other game.

I've played through as all the gangs in gangs of war, and have completed all the pub games. The pub games are brilliant fun and because they're short to play it fits in with short journeys.

By the way: does anybody here waits for Solitude (or Halo: Solitude)? If someone doesn't know - it's a Halo fangame based on (modified) Quake engine that begun as a PSP homebrew project and later was also decided to be avaible for PC...

I don't have a PSP, but it looks awesome. I'll try the PC version of it when it will be done and maybe even I'll borrow my friend's PSP just for the game...

theres rumours of a psp phone in the works.... :p

ive had loads of psps i just get them when i see i game i want then get rid when im done with it... there are alot of decent games but theres even more crud ones and bad ps2 game ports.

But games like silent hill, gta, monster hunter, dbz where all fun to play.

i like the layout of the psp go i just decided not to buy one since sony announced it was scrapping its plans to bring a umd convertor.... ultimately making the go useless unless you have far too much money
