I have a general question. I personally dont like using html for help files on dbc and was curious how many others would prefer or be interested in using a tool that simply displays the help files in a windows form (with sizeable text) rather than opening up internet explorer. To get a better idea of what I am talking about please see the attatched screenshot.

I prefer the help documents that exist, I think that having all of the commands in a drop down window would not be a good idea.

Using html makes it easy for 3rd party plugins to add on to the help files.

@bear
no, the current ide currently opens up the help using internet explorer. so the question is whitch would you prefer. One that was html bassed that opens up html , or one that is like a toolbar that opens it up in a neat windows form with sizable text ? I just wanted to know how many others would consider something like thhis useful, if enough do then I will commit to doing it as it wouldn't take much effort to do something like this.

The new IDE still opens it up in IE, just it's embedded into the IDE.

Ah well, it's pretty seamless, so to be perfectly honest, I don't care about it. Not to come across harsh, sure if you want to make it, go ahead. But it wouldn't be of any use to me, I didn't even know it was internet explorer.

the reason I ask was to get responses so I dont look at it as being harsh. Your honest opinions are valuable because I dont want to spend hours on a something that no one would ever use
so I thank you all for your unbiassed opinions

I hate the embedded IDE... It's so hard to code and look up things at the same time, so I always open it with opera.

this was one of the reasons I was considering the project.
I personally think that it would be a magnificent tool for users, but as you see from previous posts not all aggree with that idea and are quite happy with the current version.
also , I made a typo and was refering to dbc(sorry) but it could be used for dbp as well (corrected now, sorry for the inconvienance)

That is something that is incredibly inconvenient, however if you do decide to continue with the project, definitely work on the IDE that you have, because a drop down of all commands is too inconvenient.

it is true that the list in the drop down would be quite long.
perhaps dividing it up into sections (the html help files are divided into several different sections - 2d ,3d ,ect) and adding an additional drop down like this would suffice ?
