Quote: "When yo put it that way no, but a show which is being broadcasted on tv regulary, is like having permission to watch it. I cant see the problem if you have permission to view it, ie through your Tv lisense or subscription through a digibox, -(which oddly enough you can record and 'download' onto a drive for future viewing) Whats the problem with a differnt source? Shows such as Bleach are uploaded to the net for airing. Whats the difference?"
The difference is that it is up to the TV provider to determine the ways you are able to view a show. Comcast's TV business model, for instance, relies solely on TV viewers. If people start watching the shows online, they lose money. Maybe some shows are legally available online, but that's not always going to be the case.
Besides, do these uploaded episodes include all the advertisement breaks? Are they skip-able? Ads are how they can afford to air the shows in the first place. If you remove or can skip the ads, then more likely than not it's illegal.
I'm not sure how record-able TV (like with a Media Center PC) fits into this however.
