Just saw this:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1170872

And I'm simply speechless. The depth of these clues is just... bizarre. And the fact people found them

For lazy ones, look at the steps that are listed:
Quote: "
-Portal gets surprise update March 1st
-People see new mystery achievement
-People play and see the radio in the beginning room now has a green light
-Carry it around and notice it makes strange broadcast interference noises in certain places
-Locate and place all 26 of these mystery radios for achievement
-Smart people yank .wav files out of game content folders and run them through SSTV programs
-Produces 22 cryptic image files in a numbered sequence, 4 morse code
-Somebody runs the number string through an md5 hash translator and gets a landline number
-Internet traces it to Kirkland, WA (near Valve HQ)
-People find out its not a phone/fax line but a data line hosting a BBS and telnet it
-Use a clue from one of the files to figure out the BBS user/password login info [backup/backup]
-End up with a bunch of weird ASCII artwork:"

(Check the thread for the images that were produced/found)

Hopefully this will be a full blown sequel rather than a map pack/expansion

I hope this has something to do with HL2: Episode 3, like having the portal gun in the player's arsenal. It's been way too long without talks of Episode 3!

This is very odd timing... I finished portal yesterday, I can still the case now lol.

I wonder how they'll do it? i never player half-life 1, but i have the orange box so i pretty much got the storyline from that. Gravity gun *drools* is a epic piece.

I think ill start playing that again.

It just gets better and better!

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/03/03/valve-teases-upcoming-half-life-release-for-mac/

@Jeku: The fact they're porting to OS X probably suggests another HL2 episode in the pipeline (I'm guessing so at least - I mean, they'd probably bunch porting together with doing a load more work on source, and last time there were source improvements it was to support orange box)

EDIT: THAT is awesome:

Well, a new Portal update has just been pushed through Steam about 5 minutes ago. I'm at work so I can't check it out, though. The release notes simply say:

Quote: "Added valuable asset retrieval"

Hmmmm...

The valuable asset appears to be Chell, as after you beat GLaDOS she gets dragged off by a robot who says 'Thank you for assuming party escort position'."

So they're sort of... fixing the previous game to fit in with the 'canon' of the (assumed) second one. Clever!

Valve still isn't on the E3 2010 exhibitor list.

That could be a good thing though: It might mean they're aiming to unveil/release things before e3 comes around

Valve is the only developer anymore that genuinely gets me excited about their games, the kind of excitement you felt as a kid.

Can't wait to see how this pans out!

It's like a geeky version of national treasure where whoever was doing all this just seemed to know all the clues

Really though...? Hope this is a hint I really want to play Portal 2

Didn't expect it to be announced so soon!

And the underlines seem to spell out "dratmannh0nee"

Cool. Although I'm sure it will be fun, a part of me doubts that I'll feel the same magic as when I played the first one.

You can't bottle lightning, and it's hard to recapture the magic of a new experience TWICE. Although if anyone can do it, Valve can.

As David R says, the underlined letters spell out "drattmannh0nee".
I just tried drattmann as the username and h0nee as the password on http://www.aperturescience.com/ and it didn't work (at least the password wasn't accepted, maybe it's another username and password for the BBS?

Could "drattmannh0nee" perhaps be referring to the famous Ratman, the character who wrote the graffiti in Portal? (the cake is a lie, etc)

It's a new password to the BBS.

Don't know how people found those clues but however they did, imagine the freaking rush of actually solving them. God damn, the developers went all out with that game.

I did some work with it.. I was in the IRC room when we found the telephone number and accessed it. Damn everyone was rushing with adrenaline when the ASCII pictures came in...

And here I was thinking it was cool, like a character from the game or something. I'm well past 11 years of age so I didn't really notice his name, no

oh yes. Yay!! COOP!
I am so excited.
