Hi. I am currently using GameMaker for my IT assignment. I am stuck on just this last problem. I have a grid of 32x32 squares and I would like the character to snap to the 32x32 grid when moving. If this is not done the game will be buggy and there will be glitches with getting stuck in some objects. I want the movement to only occur while holding down the arrow key (direction), or to move one square when tapped. I would like the player to snap to the next square when the key is released.

how can I achieve this?

thanks

You can achieve this by maybe asking your question on the gamemaker forums.

Seriously, why ask here?

Not many people here use Game Maker.

Though I feel something needs to be explained, and I don't mean it in a horrible way.

Typically a forum serves a purpose as do its separate boards, different forums are better for different things. TGC Forums tends to be dedicated to the products it sells with an extra board for off topic stuff, which doesn't mean, "all other programming languages". There is a thin chance that you'll get an answer, but your best bet is to refer to the Game Maker forums, because it's a forum dedicated to that product and thus the members there will know how to answer your questions.

This community is often happy to help, but I think there's just a few things to bear in mind.

In essence, you'll no doubt get a quicker and better response on the forum dedicated to Game Maker. If you have a question about Dark Basic on the other hand...

Ask your IT teacher for help? Or the gamemaker forums as well.
