Hey, I've just installed Windows 7.

I ran dxdiag, and it says that my directx version is 11. Does that mean my laptop is actually capable of running it?

I checked the other tabs, but there's no apps I can run to test it...

Thanks.

Then no, it doesn't support DirectX 11.

Ah well... I would never use it anyways I guess.

My processor is apparently capable of running 64bit... I read it's 32-bit with 64 bit extentions... Haven't a clue what that means, but is it worth upgrading to 64bit?

I only have 2gb of RAM.

I have an intel pentium 4 T2310 if you're wondering.

I've had a few friends buy laptops lately, most of them look good on initially reading the specs but, upon me having a closer look at them, i find out they don't have a dedicated graphics card but some piss poor embedded graphics chipset. Which apparently has absolutely no support for 3d(ok, an overstatement but it handles 3d worse than a fat person trying to do a double back flip on ice while tying his shoelaces and reciting genesis...).
His laptop is sporting 4gig of ram and a half decent dual core processor, but without dedicated graphics the only thing it is really good for is browsing your email inbox, really fast.

Also, just throwing a question out there, his laptop came with 4gig ram and is 64 bit ready but they only supplied the 32bit version of Windows 7. I'm pretty sure that there is a gig of ram going to waste here, can anyone confirm for me?

Yup, I'm pretty sure 32bit can only address up to 3gb of ram.

No 32 bit can address 4gb, however it will only show 3.2 gb as the rest goes towards things like the embedded graphics and otherwise.

This is the correct statement.

Best line I've seen here in a while.

It will run DirectX 11. It just wont run Direct3D 11. There are alot of other DirectX features that have changed in 11.
