I'll make it quick: I'm constantly working with gimp, and right in the middle of anything, it always "stops responding" and has to close. I use vista, and have Gimp 2.6. Any help?

Um... The name of the thread name of "The Gimp keeps closing on me" could lead you to the wrong sorta thing Anyways, have you tried a full re-install?

Okay, its working fine now, but then again this is how it started when I downloaded Gimp in the first place. I'll say if more problems arise, but otherwise, thanks for the quick answer .

Buy PaintShopPro.

Seriously, I've used the Gimp on several PC's, mac, and it's the same (bloat). People should spend a little, and start using a real art package - PSP is a good alternative to PhotoShop. In fact, I prefer it to PhotoShop, it's very clear and easy to use.

I've never messed with PaintShopPro, but I've always like the looks/sound of it. And I agree, GIMP is a bit bloaty. We just like it because it's free.

Alternately you could try Paint.NET which is free.

Nice program Lazerus, much more my cup of tea. I especially like how you can rotate the whole canvas, damn handy program for graphics tablets.
