Hi all, just felt like sharing my texture WIPs. I woke up this morning and had an idea of how to make camouflage patterns/designs in Photoshop, so I gave it a shot. It's my first attempt at making camouflage ever, and I need advice. When I'm done with all the textures, I'll put 'em into a pack for a free release on my website.

So anyways, I've completed 5 so far - Green, Blue, Digital, Woodland, and Desert. All came out great except for the Digital which didn't turn out as planned.

WOODLAND-

GREEN-

DIGITAL-

DESERT-

BLUE-

Cheers, ideas and advice welcome,

-PwP

These were meant to be layed on top of weapon textures, so I don't really see why I should make them seamless... Plus, I'm no good at making things seamless and I don't want to run those textures through a seamless filter...

Anyways, I'm really sick right now (103.7 temperature) and it's really hard to even think semi-straight

well, u can use them on the gun, and on the armor/clothing, u can use them on a tank etc

u can easily reuse a camoflage pattern for many things in a game, put some effort in it, make it seamless, and sharpen them. this way they will be more popular and more useful =)

and i hope u will be better soon

Alright, fine

I'll be working on more textures tomorrow with some new techniques... What type of camouflage would you guys like to see?

(except for MW2 ripoffs)

I was saying that I'm not going to try to get any textures to look close to the camos from MW2. Yes, I know they're based on real camo. I'm not that dumb

Nah, not really. It's like modeling a MP5 in CS:S and then Activision/Infinity Ward modeling an MP5 in MW1. But anyways, this thread is dead (omg, that rhymed quite oddly)... I'm still modeling guns and I just get caught up with that. Still trying to model all the guns I planned to release in the 3D Chat. And BigAdd is apparently awaiting the surprise, so, no pressure, right?

Give the digital a pixelated effect instead, otherwise it looks very basic and to much like the photoshop filter you used.
Other than that, very good camos, I just started on my first ones aswell

Thanks for the tip! But this was a dead thread quite a few months old I'm a little better with camouflage now. But I agree, the photoshop filter was the only thing I could think of so I used it I'll try pixelating it.

If something is perfect, it probably doesn't work. -PWP
