The Holy Grails of Console Gaming

http://www.racketboy.com/retro/raregames.htm

Just came across this site earlier today, didn't see it posted here before. Probably old news, but it's new to me. It was pretty fun searching through the lists to see if I had anything of value. I have Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the Gamecube, but that's about it, unfortunately.

Just wondering if anyone else has a few 'gems' in their collection?

I'm wishing we kept some of these...

I had Final Fantasy VII for both PC and Playstation
We had all of the Sonic games...actually, it's possible we still do, somewhere
I still have Final Fantasy VIII on the PC, but sadly no PC games appear on that list and therefore I don't know how rare it is.

However, I know a few friends that still have their old games and probably have a number of those on the list.

Curse words! I have none of those.

But I have read about those championship cartridges. They are crazy expensive, if you could ever find one.

Top 20: I also have number 18.

SNES:
EVO : Search For Eden
Harvest Moon
Chrono Trigger

MegaDrive:
ToeJam and Earl

PS1:
Team Buddies (Didn't know this was classed as rare, I loved this game to bits. Foul mouthed pills with arms and legs and really good game mechanics.)
Bust a Groove

Dreamcast: (Still one of my favourite consoles)
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Powerstone 2
Skies of Arcadia

XBOX:
Jurassic Park Operation Genesis
Sniper Elite
Jedi Knight Academy
GTA Trilogy
Fatal Frame
Star wars Battlefront 2
Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic (1 and 2)
Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2

I have quite a collection. I had the original Samba De Amigo for the dreamcast in it's box with the maracas that i only used twice. I got rid of it a while back to a charity shop after cleaning up my house. Didn't realise that they are quite rare and some have sold upwards of 3-400 quid. Gutting.
I quite a big games collection and i'm sure i have a few more rarities than the ones shown on this site.

#18 is Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Master System, which is different from the Genesis version that everyone has.

Looking through the lists, the only games I have is Power Stone 2 and Phantasy Star Online Eps 1 & 2. And the Power Stone case is so badly beat up and cracked, I don't think it's worth anything.

We had that, I hope we've still got it in the loft somewhere. I remember it, it was awesome! And yes, it's different to the one on the Megadrive/Genesis - I think it's the same version of the game you got on the Game Gear.

I have Toejam & Earl for the sega mega drive.

I am after probotector for the mega drive, which is probably one of the most rare mega drive titles (also one of the best games ever!)

You do know Probotector = Contra?
I forgot which one i had for the snes, but it was a Probotector sequel(Super Probotector which i believe is Contra 3).
I prefer the art in Probotector to Contra anyway. Robots are at least 2x cooler (and about 3x less homoerotic) as sweaty, buff, burly men with guns

Could someone post a google cached link so I can view it at school?

One game that I find is very rare is Serious Sam for the original Xbox. Was such an awesome game, took me ages to find a copy.

That site just persuaded me to pick up a copy of "The Red Star" for PS2. £5 on Amazon. Looks a bit like Silent Bomber, which was awesome. Now I need to find my PS2.

Being reminded of these games blows my head apart with a double-barrelled nostalgia blast

I know probotector is contra, but for the megadrive there was just "Probotector" and its as rare as a £17.69 note here.

Maybe you misunderstood, what i was really trying to say is why don't you just get contra for another platform? Or is it the allure of owning a rare game that's driving you to it?
I've found most of my older games down car boots or computer fairs, it's worth checking out because some people don't know what they've got.

I'd like to know how the author decided the price for these games. I found a set of Ecco the dolphin games for $15 on ebay, and I'm pretty sure I could find others for a fraction of these outrageous prices.

Ecco the dolphin is easy to come by, but the boxed set?
