Backstory: some time ago I suggested to someone on here that they should consider miniatures for special effects in a film. I have taken my own advice to heart.

Mediumstory: I have been tasked with creating a car chase for an *animated* film - note: photorealism is NOT an absolute priority. Anyways I made this:

Video clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-mA0dhXDaY

It is of a car getting shot up. The shot will be cut with a shot of the pursuer emptying a clip of bullets, etc and in car shots.

I've NEVER done miniatures work until today. I thought I'd ask what everyone thought of this shot. I think it beats what I could've done with CG, but I'd love to hear some candid opinions before I make a decision to proceed with miniature work.

It was achieved thusly, if curious:

- Toy car, spray painted to match life size version
- Found video of night time driving on youtube
- Put toy car in front of laptop screen, atop some books
- Pressed play on video
- Pressed record on camera
- Wiggled torch around near car to provide 'spark's
- Added lights, number plate and juiced up the sparks
- Rain video clip atop everything
- Rain on lens map atop everything

Discuss! My second reason for posting was I thought seeing this might spark the imagination of people who are tight on money. This was done with a toy car and a laptop screen!
