Hi people

I've been wondering for a while if there are any good freeware video editors out there? Theres usually a freeware alternative to most things, GIMP, Open Office, Inkscape etc, but I can't find a good video editor. Any ideas?

Here's some open source alternatives to iMovie

Also, I use Avidemux

Thanks JoelJ. It seems like the best editors are for Linux. I'll have a play with Avidemux today, thanks.

Windows Movie maker is a million times better at editing than a lump of coal too

I want to be able to stick together different clips, edit the sound or at least enable me to save/ load sound so I can use something like Audacity to edit it with. Also a few simple transitions and allow me to insert images. I'd like to be able to manually edit frames (In GIMP) and re-insert them too. This might all be asking a bit much from a freeware bit of software I know!

I'd like something which is simple to use like Movie Maker but has a little more functionality such as camera panning / zoom etc.

I've seem some good video tutorials for Sony Vegas and After Effects but they are still more studio than I'd prefer.

Wax! Wax!, well its my favorite anyway, it can do simple stuff, has a simple interface, is free. But best of all has some advanced features such as chromakey.

In the past I've used Premier and another I think called Purple? It was used to make films including Twister. That was many years ago and both cost a fortune! If I had the cash I'd probably buy Premier...but its the cash part I'm having problems with right now Though if I were to spend money on software I don't think I could stop myself from spending it on upgrading my version of Lightwave!

@Melancholic
I have Wax installed, I'll give it another try, thanks.

Wax is good, but it's notoriously buggy.

Yeah I've tried Wax a little bit too. It worked, to a point.

Thanks
