Hey guys. I am asking on behalf of the calibre team whether there are any voice actors out there who will be able to do a small amount of recording for us. We are just working on the tutorial level at the moment and full singleplayer may be added at a later point (multiplayer game).
The type of acting we would like is someone who is able to do a voice of a soldier in a barracks. We may need multiple voices for this so there may be more then one place available.
Ideally we are looking for any voice actors who will do this for free. Alternatively this could be an opportunity for those people who would like to try and gain experience for voice acting. As an absolute last resort we may be able to pay anyone who takes the job a small amount of money for their services.
The script is still being finalised but there will be between 20 and 30 pieces of text, some ranging from 1 line and others to possibly a paragraph or two.
If you guys could get back to us on this matter as soon as possible that would be great,
Thanks,
Arenas
For evidence of progress, here is a screen taken from the level which the script has been written for:
EDIT: A copy of the current Tutorial Level Script is now available for browsing in this post. It is attached to this post. If you are interested in recording a part, just post the recordings in your reply to this thread. We will use a variety of the donated recordings and make a list of everyone who has helped and everyone whos final recording is in the finished level. We may include a few segments and entities for all those who have donated (still just an idea at this stage). If you would like to receive this small pack please include an email address which we can send the package to.
Level Name: Tutorial
Characters; Sergeant Jackson, Sergeant Nelson, Technician, Radio Presenter, Lieutenant Kennedy
Level Script:
Sergeant Jackson:
Friendly tone to the voice. Possibly with a slight accent.
Voice Clip 1:
Take the weapon off the table private and make your way to station 1.
Voice Clip 2:
Get to the station private!
Voice Clip 3:
Now shoot the targets from the hip which have risen. Eliminate them all.
Voice Clip 4:
Good job. Not all targets will be as close to you as that. Use your iron sights to improve your accuracy when hitting targets at a larger range.
Voice Clip 5:
Proceed to station two now and use your iron sights to dispose of the three targets.
Voice Clip 6:
They didn’t stand a chance! Now, pick up a side arm to join your assault rifle.
Voice Clip 7:
This is the G22 semi-automatic pistol. In the heat of battle, it is faster to switch to your side arm rather than reloading. Now I want you to go down to station 3 and eliminate the targets using your pistol.
Voice Clip 8:
Pistols are not as accurate as other weapons when firing from the hip. Use your iron sights to improve your chances of hitting the targets.
Voice Clip 9:
Nice. There is still one more thing that I need to explain to you before you can go. Body shots are an ineffective way of eliminating players. The most effective way of killing a hostile is with a head shot. To have a successful head shot aim at the head and pull the trigger. Head shots will most likely be an instant kill. Move to the final station and destroy the targets with a single shot to the red area on the head.
Voice Clip 10:
Shooting like that will be sure to get you a head in this form of training! Soldier, it seems that Sergeant Nelson wants you to run the test course right away. I would hurry if I were you. That man has quite a temper mate.
Radio Presenter:
Crackling effect. Middle aged man with an American accent.
Voice Clip 11:
[Crackling radio effect in the background] There have been several unprovoked attacks in the east on British Troops. No details have been reviled on the identity of the casualties, but we can now confidently say that there have been five fatalities and three more troops are badly wounded. More on this story over the next hour as it unfolds.
Sergeant Nelson:
Deep voice. Radio crackle when head set is on.
Voice Clip 12:
[From shouting to a normal volume] Where have you been private! I am not in the mood for tardiness like that! Do you understand! Now, before you are assigned to any real action, I want you to complete the standard training course solo.
Voice Clip 13:
[Continuing on from before but in a new file] Give me your weapons.
Voice Clip 14:
Private Walker is standing by the entrance to the house. Your objective is simple. You must eliminate all hostiles in as little time as possible. The targets marked with green areas are friendlies. Targets marked with red patches are hostiles. I will open doors to allow you into the next sector once you have cleared an area. Take the headset from the table. I will give you instructions as you progress through it.
Voice Clip 15:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Pick up the weapons off the table.
Voice Clip 16:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Enter the circuit when you are ready and we can begin.
Voice Clip 17:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Move to the first position! Go!
Voice Clip 18:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Eliminate the targets!
Voice Clip 19:

Voice Clip 21:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Next Position!
Voice Clip 22:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Take out the targets!
Voice Clip 23:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] The doors open! Run to position 4!
Voice Clip 24:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Clear the room and sprint to the finish!
Voice Clip 25:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] You hit a hostage private!
Voice Clip 26:
[Through a head set, possibly small amounts of static] Targets with green markings are friendlies!
Voice Clip 27:
Great work soldier. You have achieved higher than I expected. It looks like you may be ready for your first assignment.
Voice Clip 28:
The head set is on this table soldier!
Technician:
Middle aged male.
Voice Clip 29:
You can find Sergeant Nelson over in that largest warehouse.
Lieutenant Kennedy:
Young male. Hostile and aggressive personality.
Voice Clip 30:
Now that your finally awake private! Unfortunately it seems that our superiors believe you need a lesson on the basics. I want you to run the obstacle course as fast as possible. Then you are to report to the rifle range to practice with your weapons. The course door is now open, go inside and run it. I will stop your time when you step back into this room.
Voice Clip 31:
What are you waiting for?
Voice Clip 32:
Jump over the barrier!
Voice Clip 33:
Crouch beneath the barrier!
Voice Clip 34:
Sprint to the end!
Voice Clip 35:
Crouch and jump down!

That wasn’t too bad. Now head off to the rifle range on the other side of the complex. I don’t want to see you back here again!
