its a good thing i didnt go anywhere today, and my friend overslept today before going to work so that might have saved him.
at 7 am In moscow a female suicide bomber blew up a train on a red line of the metro (sucks because it was one was one of those special edition trains with custom paintjob). 45 minutes later another train was blown up on the same line also by a female terrorist suicide bomber. Both attacks claimed 38 lives RIP and 60-80 were wounded. The entire red line was closed down, 150 buses free of charge were assigned to compensate for the closed down metro line. After the attacks, most of the subway traffic went above ground in fear that there are gonna be more bombings. this caused an epic traffic jam in the entire center of the city during rush hour which at this time is already overloaded. most people walked because its faster than standing in a traffic jam, some people volonteered to give rides to people for free. but the taxi drivers jacked up their prices x5 of the usual. People paid 100 dollars for 4 kilometers most of which was spent in a traffic jam. After the first bomb went off, everyone started calling the relatives which overloaded the cellphone traffic so eventually nobody could get throgh to anyone because all communications were out of service, which made people worry.
Some people like my friend decided to use the subway anyway because the traffic above ground was overloaded, the security today was very tight, cops with bomb sniffing dogs everywhere. Overall this was handled in a very organized manner the ambulance work was quick in efficient (kinda surprising for this country, the ambulance services normally suck and get complains all the time)There was absolutley no panic, people stated to help each other before the help arrived. They think this attack is a retaliation of chechen separatists after a recent operation which wiped out most of the big seperatist leaders that claimed responsibility for the Nevsky express train bombing last year (november i think). This is actually not the first time the moscow metro was bombed. In 1974 and 1976 it was bombed by some armenian liberation front organization, then in 1996, 1998, 2004, 2006, 2008, and today in 2010 were all bombed first by chechen speratists, then by other islam extremist groups in southwestern russia. in total it was bombed 10 times. Other than that, we had alot of other terrorist attacks in recent 20 years.
soo rip for everyone who died today and soory for my grammar.

OMG. I'm glad you're alright! I heard about this on the news (like twenty minutes ago), and apparently America fears they're going to start threatening Washington D.C. too. Which is scary because I'm at a friend's house who JUST got back from D.C. the day before yesterday...God, that was close.

I'm sorry you and your friends and family had to go through this, man. Hope all is well with everyone you know and that things will be safe from here on out!

Usually it's some religious nutter brainwashed into thinking that they'll be rewarded when they die. Hence my atheism.

dont worry, these are our own homegrown terrorists, DC has noting to fear from them. Besides, DC security is proboly better after sept 11th. Also i dont know what the DC population is if its smaller, it would be easier to control survalience and stuff. The moscow problem is its population is unofficially about 20 million and we have one of the biggest and the worlds busyest subway system. Also we have no room for prejudice in this city because more than 5 million are all from the southwest with darker skin and obviosly they cant stop and search every islamic looking person. I am saying this because when i lived in US after sept 11th it was uncommon for an islamic looking people to be searched because of their origin. but there a much less middle easterners in us than here in russia. i am not trying to be racist or anything.

Its more about politics here than religion, we have something like a civil war going on in the south. Before the major anti terrorist operation there last year the terrorist in the south targeted police, military, influencial people like police chefs, generals, they bombed their homes, they also almost assasinated the governor of the region. 2 cars full of explosives blew up his convoy and nearly killed him, he was rushed to moscow and they saved him there, he was in an extremely critical condition.

Your not, people from islamic background were classed as a high risk due to thier views. Simple human thinking, whos more likely to hurt me? The person who thinks my religion is wrong or the person who has the same relgion as me.

Its not racist its how we all work, on all sides of the world.

Which is sad, because human nature dictates that we all want to be better than each other, but how does killing yourself and hundreds of other make you superior? I feel bad for all of the innocent people that were just trying to get to work, but Pagan, you had some incredible luck, I hope that you are able to keep safe.

i am lucky man. Actually i was in moscow in 2004 as well when the subway was bombed. Back then my grandpa was luckier than me because he left on the train and 5 minutes later the station he left from was bombed.

I too am an athiest, but don't buy what you are told by the media, some people in this world are in desperate situations and do extreme things which are just terrible.
We are just dismissing the fact that there is a problem by saying they are all nutters.

I find it sick how a human being can even kill another human being. And not long ago during WW2, a human being would actually help another be it taking people of rubble, or doing the Milk run each day, I even seen people pushing over cars just to save their loved ones, humanity is such a twistedly pleasant thing. If there is a heaven and hell this is most definately hell.

Condolences for those who weren't lucky.

Also, I am glad you are okay PAGAN.

On the note of religion. I hope people remember to bear in mind the difference between a typical Muslim and an extreme one. A lot of Muslims do not support or like what extremists do and of course, it wouldn't be fair to dislike them or discriminate against them.

Also, I'm kind of fed up trying to work out the mentality behind people who do stupid and screwed up things.

Yes, it's best that we keep away from this topic. Crazy people will be crazy regardless of their faith, or lack thereof.

Anyways, my condolences to the dead and their family, and I wish the wounded a quick recovery.

Well, yes, naturally religion would come up when involving religious extremists, so I'd rather as it's brought up that people don'think along discriminatory terms - religion isn't a black and white thing, so any generalized statements are bound to offend and cause an argument.

Extremists are horrible and dangerous people, so I like the idea of everybody, regardless of race, age, gender, creed or whatever, hating them. After all, why should the innocent blood be spilled?

Yeah, humanity is strangely paradoxical. One minute you hear about a man shooting up a shopping mall, the next you hear how 100's of volunteers managed to find a lost Boy Scout in the woods. It's sad really, because humanity has the potential to do so much more than they do, but we are held back by the arrogant, hateful, and close-minded.

Seppuku, I think you'd be an interesting person I'd like to talk to outside of the forums about different topics that aren't allowed here . You seem to have a similar personality to me, and are able to make a stand or point without coming off as offensive, which I respect. Feel free to add me on MSN at gamedev06 at hotmail dot com or AIM at gamedev06 at aol dot com if you want to chat sometime .

Glad to see you're ok Pagan.

Dust off the old "condolences" again, why is that the magic word when it comes to death? As I understand it giving someone your condolences means you'll actively support them after the tragedy has happened, so it seems a bit false. I'm not having a go at you guys for using it, there isn't anything you can say in these situations, I just think it's odd that it has come into use for such a specific situation.

Dang, glad to hear you are alright. It must have been a high tension day for you!

I've always wondered how they know who blew up something after a suicide bombing. How did they know it was a female?

As we'll find out next week, this was all organized by the Taxi drivers to obtain more money. /sarcasm. But for real, that's horrible... capitalizing on a terrorist attack.

I bet the tensions were high in that traffic jam. If there was a terrorist attack happening, I would run to the least dense/busy area of town. Bumper to bumper traffic? Not somewhere I'd want to be when there's bombs going off.

Saw this in the news. Glad you're ok man.

On another note, there is so much religious-related stuff I wish to discuss here (in a calm manner of course), but simply can't.

me and everyone i know is fine but thank you.

in this case the security camera records showed that the terrorists were female, they didnt try to hide their faces, and by collecting their leftover bodyparts (one of the bombers heads was still intact) also, witnesses

Hey PAGAN, I'm so glad you and your friends and family are not harmed! It's so sad and pointless that innocent people still have to die because of mindless freaks who don't care less about others, or even about them selves. We make of our lives what we can, but some people ruin others happiness for some stupid beliefs, greed, money, power, lust...

It's really just sad...

Take care...

there was an attack on police in the Dagestan today, they killed some cops and a new appointed police chef (who was just assigned there from moscow last week after the previos chief was killed) That was in a region in the south, where all the terrorists are are organizing. The cop attacking stopped for a while after a recent anti terrorist operation there, but after we killed their leaders theyre reorganizing again. This is a complicated situation and killing them will not do any good. Their culture is based on blood feud. If your family member was killed or offended you have to avenge them to keep your honor, if you dont, you family turns away from you because youre sorta like shame to your family. so russians killed abunch of people in that last operation, so their relatives (they tend to have big families) have to go and avenge them.

How can you tell? They look similar, but one is from the side and it's hard to tell if they're identical. And no, those are likely captured from security camera footage before the blast, because 1) They wouldn't release pictures like that, and 2) Your head wouldn't be cleanly cut off at the neck if you blew yourself up.

This is sad, I'm glad you're alright PAGAN. The world will be a better place when people realize these sorts of destructive acts do little to further their causes.

the president is trying to solve the cacasus region problem by financing it, to attract business, investments and jobs. As i said before, killing terrorists there is only a temporary solution, the region is like a bee hive that you dont want to stirr up
