I just got some great news. I've been attending Sheridan College for classical animation for the last 2 years. The program is supposed to be 2 more years, and then applicants are allowed to try for the 2 year extended computer animation course, but due to my grades this year and a few recommendations from teachers that have seen my digital work so far, I was allowed to apply to computer animation early. One of the instructors was telling me it was ridiculous that I was wasting my time in classical when Im already learning on my own what the graduates of the computer animation program are supposed to be learning. The classical animation program was hard enough to get into, they have an intense portfolio review that you need to undergo. But I sent off my digital portfolio earlier this year, and I just got the news back that I got in!
Sorry

, I know personal junk like this doesnt really belong on the forums, but Im super stoked! Gonna get into the industry 2 years ahead of time now. Cant wait.
I have a bit of a decision on my hands though. If I opt out of classical animation, I wont get the bachelor I was working towards, and will end up with an advanced degree in computer animation instead. On one hand I can get into the industry earlier, on the other I can invest 2 more years into my current program and come out later with better paper work. According to a few instructors Ive spoken to (one of them worked for ILM, another for Pixar), I should go with the computer animation course now seeing as there is a board of reps from Pixar and other animation companies that check out the final reel we make in computer animation and hire us off the bat if its good enough. We'll see!
