Well this year of college is almost over, and one of my classes this year is geared towards painting and colour theory. Just thought Id post up a WIP of my end-of-year project for this class, incase anyone else that paints is interested / wants to show their work.

Day 1:

Day 2:

Let me know what you think. Keep in mind right now Im still fleshing out the form and colours, so things like the fingers and tears in the paper are still very rough, along with the colour of the lips that Im going to tone down a bit.

Rather nice.

Seems you'v already critted what we can

So whats your subject matter?

Im tied to space age right now though i have twisted it to what suits me ^_^"
I had to write it like this since, "i was bored and i dont know" dosnt work;

Dehumanisation through fear; personified into living suits in which we embeded our souls to live forever.

- fear of space, vasteness, alone. So Fear of fear itself causing life to be feared. Alot of fear eh?

Then taken further into realisation of inhumanity and rehabilitation of it.

Bleh hell of a title. Anyway your's is looking great and i cant wait to see it finished.

Lol lazerus I gotta say, really lost you in the last half of your post there .

Thanks for the good comments. Lazerus, my subject matter is me . We were essentially supposed to paint anything reflecting an important goal in our lives, my goal is to break out of scarborough and make it in the industry, so Im breaking out of the painting. Pretty simple .

Very nice start, RUCCUS! I did some oilpainting several years ago, mainly scenery paintings (landscapes).
What is yours? Also oil, or acrylic? And, do you also paint with paletknifes? And, do you also paint a white undercoat, before you start your actual painting?

Cheers

Ive used oil, hell, Ive used everything... Egg Tempera, Oil, Acrylic, Water Colour... but this is an acrylic painting. I dont paint the boards white beforehand unless the board isn't white itself, however sometimes I'll gesso the board if I need a smoother surface instead of canvas. I dont use pallet knives, never have, other than to mix my paint.

Well, acrylic is a lot like oil paint, hey? You can paint real thick, or diluted and transparent, just like oil paint. And it has a lot of advantages, like it does'nt need that long to dry, and you don't need that smelly terpentine to clean your brushes. And it comes in a variety of colors, maybe not as much as oils, but there's plenty of choice. On the other hand, oil paint takes very long to dry, but that gives you the possibility to adjust the strokes of an earlier layer, weeks after you painted. I used my fan brush a lot when I painted waterfalls. Very handy brush for that kind of stuff. Even painted flowers with my fingers. Maybe I'll restart painting on day. Now I'm too busy making games and playing the guitar. I almost did an entire comic book (20 years ago) about a Ninja. Had already 15 pages drawn on both sides, but lost that comic after my first girlfriend left me. It broke my heart. Twice. Ah, well...

Cheers

I wish I could paint like that.

It reminds me of the cover of "Pink Floyds" the wall, painted by Gerald Scarfe.

I think its great.

Awesome work, I haven't done any proper painting on canvas in a while. I've been fiddling around with Painter as of late though, spent about an hour on this the other night.
It's nice for me not to have to worry about keeping any supplies or canvases around and painting with a tablet in Painter feels relatively similar. Still can't beat getting into a quiet place and just painting away though.
