Well it was talked about by our resident programming experts and theoretically they thought it possible to create something that would allow the casual Dark Basic user to create iPhone apps.

Well even if it was possible, it has now been made impossible thanks to that brilliant company we call Apple!

They want to retain as much as possible to be done on there own apps, therefore make more profit, it's probably to make more money than anythink else, i dare them to do the same to the ipad\ipod\iphone so they can only sync with macs based on security reasons, Oh, right, if they did that then they would lose money, so they wont, would they ban Programmes like wine, No same reason.

I would have thought one of the possibilities for the iPad was to make company systems which are compatible, is this therefore removing most of that capability for most companies, because they cant covert there existing systems to make them compatible?

Get a slate that runs windows rather than an iPad, Slates\tablets are much more compatable with general software\games based on the fact that they run windows rather than the iPads stripped down OS.

They are just protecting their market share. What options are on the Mac for developing PC software? - it's the same thing, people have to see the Mac as a development platform for Apples hardware. It might be a bit eliteist, but Xcode is a damn fine platform to work on, maybe it's a good thing to have it standardized.

A Mac is an investment, one that most people can pay off through software on the iTunes store.

I disagree. I don't think that's what they're doing at all. Considering all the main tools out there that does this (Unity, MonoTouch, and Adobe's CS whatever tool it is) require you to have a mac. If anything doesn't require a mac, it's accomplished through jailbreaking, so this new rule doesn't apply to those developers anyway (as they'll just ignore it).

They're doing it to be controlling and because they think that it has a performance hit. Thus using more battery and making the app less responsive. However, I think they're being plain retarded with this. They're not going to bring more developers to buy their products with this. They're going to push them away.
