hello everyone

i have an issure with my gateway laptop.

ever since i switched to windows 7 it seems as though the cooling fans have not been working as well as they should. and now that the rather mild winter we have experienced is over it is beginning to cause problems.

There are no options in the BIOS and im not really sure where to start. the laptop has two fans. they should be fairly clean.

what i need to know is what kind of driver should i be downloading? how can i force my laptops fans to run more ofter and faster?
how should i fix the issue of the fans not running at faster speeds when its heating up. for example playing lfd2?

id like to fix this before something actually breaks.

Thanks all

Probably best to email Gateway support and ask them for advice. I don't think there are any drivers you'd need for the fans, the only thing is that there might be a bios update which provides better support for Windows7, or might allow more control over your fans. It's at a bios level though, meaning you might have to flash your bios with a patch, fiddly job.

There's a app called SpeedFan (or something like that) which might help..

Laptop fans dont have special sensors so you cant control them with Speed Fan usually. In my case, with my HP 6735s its impossible to control the fan.

The speed of the fan might be affected by dust so best to get it cleaned.
