So I nopw have The Passing (to Left 4 Dead 2) and I love it! I like the mutation idea, and will play every single mutation! I was so exited when I heard, they were doing something like this, I already loved L4D2, but now even more! I need to go achievemnt hunting as there is 10 new achievememnts!!!!

Well, I created this thread so that all you L4D2 players and fans can discuss Passing here. Does it make L4D2 fell more like an add-on? Do you like it? Were you dissapoined? Is it the awesom, est thing ever?

I want to hear what YOU think.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

I like it, only I'm wondering where the co-op challenge mode is that they promised in the blog.

I think they should first sort out the bugs from Left 4 Dead 2 and make it decently playable then make addons.

Left 4 Dead 2 was indeed very enjoyable, and I look forward to playing around with it (and episodes from liberty city) when my arm no longer needs daily anesthetics, is out of it's sling and is generally useable.

Since this is a recent L4D2 thread I thought I'd mention some community-made campaigns for both games that I've been enjoying lately (it seems not enough people try these campaigns out!):

Left 4 Dead
We Don't Go To Ravenholm (Get this if you're a HL2 fan!)
City 17
Death Aboard
Crash Bandicoot Course

Left 4 Dead 2
City 17
Death Aboard 2 (Conversion of Death Aboard)
Discraper Redux

More at l4dmaps.com.

I heard City 17 is great! Need to download it. But Death Aboard was VERY bad. It had so many bugs and it wasn't so fun overall.

And I would also like to know, what makes Left 4 Dead 2 so unplayable charger bandit. I find it very fun and playable.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

It was a very nice add-on!!!

Metal Devil: You might want to get rid of the spoiler in your story, you know how people get...

I'm probably not going to pick this up,I played L4D 1 endlessly, but I never had the same passion for the second. Didn't feel like a sequel should have.

Odd, Left 4 Dead 2 has always been stable for me. No crashing, no errors, no noticeable bugs.

I dont understand what "The Passing" is. Im assuming some mod for L4D2. Id google it but... it would definitely make sense for you to describe what you're talking about in the actual thread for people like me that have no clue.

Well that depends, where are you from? I'd add you only you might live half way around the world from me and so one of us won't have the most pleasant experience when playing together.

Come again? If you've updated you'll already have the 'DLC' since it's part of the update.

The Passing sucked, I have never seen such a terrible story line from VALVe since Counter-Strike Condition Zero. And I really hate the fact that they killed off Jim French(Bill), but then again it had to be done. He went AWOL a while ago.

Steam gives you the option for manual updates?

Anyways, I had a little bit of fun playing it (didn't feel like getting friends together, played SP). Must say that L4D2's bots suck compared to L4D1 - in the original if you got smoker'd they'd run over and melee the tongue off, in this one if you hang they just sit there and look

All in all, with or without the Passing I'm afraid to say I don't much like Left 4 Dead 2. I loved, and still love, the first. It just felt like a higher quality game, and there was something about the second that makes it a less enjoyable experience for me (people running into the fray with melee weapons and getting shot by teammates because of it probably is an impacting factor, though that isn't completely the game's fault). The maps look and feel a bit more rushed and most of the additions feel tacked on rather than core elements of the game. There's also some nitpicky things, like the artistic difference between the old and new weapons.

And of course, I'm too tied to the original survivors to like the ones from the second

Duh why can't people think? I simply download updates from like torrent sites (legally,it's just the patch) then apply to the game. It's fast, simple and doesn't take years to apply like with Steam.

Just a little longer to enjoy The Passing.

Don't be surprised if you get banned by Valve for downloading your own patches. Obviously the doors swing open for hacks and exploits going through a 3rd party update.

Steam updates are painless... that's one of the main selling points for Steam.

I'd like to second this. Even custom patches doing minor things such as replacing graphics or functionality can get you banned.

If you update through Steam it gives you the most recent files straight away (no need to install multiple patches), and the download speed is usually fast if you have the correct download location set and Valve haven't just released a major update for another game.

For real? I understand what you mean about the feel, it feels less serious than the original and I'm not such a big fan of that. But I love the level design, I think it's improved a lot. Versus is a lot of fun, especially with the current mode which adds features from the 'realism' mode.

Steam updates way faster than downloading a torrent, dude.
