[/b]Should I get NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 480? (Direct X11, and is fast along with good graphics *Power Hungry*)
[/b]Or ATI Radeon? (I don't know much 'bout this one)

I would like to get a gaming PC (Windows XP 64-bit)with a gaming keyboard and mouse.
I just would like to know whats fast and has good graphics.
And whats the best sound card?
And whats a good Hard Drive?
PS: you can get 3 NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 480s for best performance and such.

It'd be one bloody good PC if you could afford 3 GTX 480s.

Your signature has been erased by a mod because of the forum's stupidly tiny restrictions, along with other things such as lack of automatic image resizing, and lack of embedding videos.

I wouldn't go with xp 64 bit, especially if you want directx 11.

What motherboard are you using? Chances are you can neither use nor afford 3 GTX 480s AND a sound card.

And from what I hear you'll need one hell of a power supply.

Yeah, really.

As a general rule, you can do a little research on Google before you post here. It's best to start from the bottom up.

Before shelling out $1500+ for graphics cards, better know what you are getting into.

Ok... but I got The 3D Game Maker...

Can it run on XP mode???
Because they (Best Buy)
don't have Win XP, its all Windows 7...
I know Win7 is 64-bit, I just wan't a good pc to make games on.
You know what I mean?
Crashes because you don't have the right cpu (like it uses Pentium III Intel).
It happens in FPSC free.
I hope it works in XP mode!
It just said it doesn't work on Win 7, but they didn't say anything about the XP mode.

Wow... I hope this works on Win 7 (XP mode)
Because I can't seem to find a windows XP pro...

Ok.

I would really like to have DX11 for The Orange Box, so I can use Gmod (Garry's Mod(www.Garrysmod.org)).
I don't know what to do... Hmmmmmm....

okay, talk about overkill, you in no way need 3 GTX 480 cards for GARRY's MOD. or FPSC or even 3D game Maker.

an 8600 would give you basically no lag ever in any of those games.

Lol, god knows what Bugsy is on. My GeForce 9800 GT can't handle gmod, sometimes even on medium.

If you want a top range gaming PC, get the uber expensive ATI Radeon HD 5970 2gb, a DDR3 motherboard, a Core i7, Windows 7 x64, a 1tb internal HDD and a monster PSU.

XP mode should support it. If not, dual-boot xp.

I have a 9500GS 512MB and I never lag on Gmod unless I spawn 20+ NPCs. You must just have low ram or HD space.

Well I was actually on laughing gas earlier, but that's a different story.

I have 6.5gb DDR2 RAM, and more than half a terabyte disk space remaining + 200gb on C:/

How did you end up with such an uneven amount of RAM?

Windows 7 x64, Core i7 860, 8 GB DDR3 1333 RAM, Radeon HD 5850, 1.25 TB HDD capacity

I have 4 RAM slots, and only 3 2gb cards. I just filled the empty slot for good measure.

wait the gtx4 series is out? 0_o????
i think you should get an nvifia ge force 400mx with 64 mb of ram, back in the day when i had it (was my first graphics card ever) it was the best thing ever, all my friends were jealous. just because it was an nvidia made it good, everyone back then had ati rage or some 3dx or sis gpu with like 8mb of ram

this guy has the right idea. if you want to play the newer games on full settings (medium or low just dosent cut it for some of us especially if some games are still choppy on lowest settings) get that if you have money. i am planning to build an ati mashine with 2x 5870 (or whatever the number is the second fastest one the single core) because old 8800gtx which i dont have any more could barely run gta4 on minimum settings and that had 512mb of ram too also with this overkill PC it will proboly be good for another 5 years. if you buy a lower end gaming pc you will likley want to get something better the next year because some new game will come out that your PC cant handle

Thanks everyone!
What good game-making pals!
Well...
I just am a bit worried about what type of good PC I should get, I wan't to run those games and programs.
I just don't feel like getting a windows 7 yet...
Plus I don't wan't to have to mod my pc to run those programs, and what I mean by
Quote: "the correct way"
is by using what the requirements/specs said so it won't crash because the CPU is incompatible with the program, I just don't wan't it to say something about an unexpected error and needs to close and "Sorry for the inconvenience". Because it might be having problems working with Duo, or Dual Core, etc. I just think its best to get a Pentium III intel CPU desktop with the operating system being Windows XP Professional 64-bit (that 64-bit will help with speed because the #-bit says the amount of Random-Access-Memory it can handle.(It can handle a lot of RAM easily which is good for speed.))and having a lot of RAM,(Random Access Memory)and having a Direct X compatible Graphics card and sound card along with 3D Acceleration. I saw what it said on these...

http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2126&page=System

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orange_Box

And whats strange, is that they don't have a page for system requirements for FPS Creator.

No don't settle for 3 480's, if you want >45 fps in gmod or CS:Source get 4, go with an i7 extreme and minimum 8 gigs ram, I'd recommend 12 gigs for decent performance.

prolly why you're running slowly. nothing supports "6.5 gb ram". you either have triple channel, and use 6 gb, or you have dual channel, and use 4 or 8.

@satchmo. dude I get 500-1000 FPS with my very modest comp.

sorry, double post

Buy a Geforce GTX460 when it comes out or buy two GTX295 and it will be the win.

Why would anyone specifically want that?

I mean, the more frames the better but once you breach 80-100+ you're in "not going to notice" territory"

technically, when the human is not totally pumped up with adrenaline from excitement, they see at 24 fps. usually a human can see a little faster than that, and at least tell that they're getting higher frames.

my new comp runs @ >4500

my modest one can get 500-1000.
