Tidal wave energy is a renewable energy resource. It is based on the power of ocean currents. Ocean wave energy is 100% environment friendly and doesn’t emit any greenhouse gases. This creates a cleaner environment for the future generations.

The source of tidal energy is the movement of tides. Wave turbines, which do a role to similar to wind turbines, are placed under the sea water. The water movement results in the movement of turbines and thereby results in the production of electricity.

As the world is looking for renewable energy resources, tidal energy is getting more attention day by day. Tidal energy extraction works mostly on two basic theories. First is the creation of electric power from the horizontal movement of sea water and the second one from the rise and drop of sea water levels.

Tidal energy is highly dependable and predictable. As tides do not depend on weather, its motion can be predicted. Tidal energy works similar to that of hydro electric energy. Tidal energy is one of the clean and cost effective forms of alternative energy. The rise and ebb of the tides can be effectively used as an alternative energy resource.

More information about tidal energy and the methods of extraction can be obtained from the recent Energy Industry News reports.

That sounds all good, but what did you want to discuss about it?
Or are you mayhap an advertisement bot?

I'm wary of "tidal energy". I'm sure if we use enough tidal generators we'd cause the Earth to slow its rotation. Those things would cause a braking action on the Earth, slowing its rotation down every little bit with each generator slowing it down by several tiny fractions of a microsecond. Read this in a scientific magazine somewhere...

edit: oops... I thought you were talking about those generators that rely on the tides going in and out instead of relying on the constant ocean currents. There are turbines in testing if I remember correctly, but their durability is an issue. Ocean currents can be pretty strong... strong enough to break the things.

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

I thought you were talking about tsunamis. I imagine you'd be able to get at least 1.21 gigiwatts out of one of those bad boys.

Your an idiot for copy/pasta, which it most likely is.

That and you seem to not understand much about what tidal energy is.

Ill put this the easy way since well being a geograpghy student ive had the terms bashed into me and; Could, /Have/ argued energy sources for hours.

Kick it off then. Tidal power is not predictable, far off it in fact. The tide's depth, power, silt level and solution of silt and other factors, are very unpredictable. This has lead to offshore tidal power being near impossible, especially in high season since we cant actually make anything that can take the waves barrages. Quite alot of the prototypes having been damamged beyound repair.

Then thiers the enviromental factors which nobody mentions.

I found this quite funny, the enviroment around the station will be so clean that 80% of wildlife will be extinct. Thats based off the river mersy's plan on tidal power. (Liverpool, England) The areas would be flooded along with large silt deposits building up cauing port traffic to stop due to the shallow waters.

I can fling 10 or more case studies your way in which all of these plants have caused an large enviromental disaster of sorts but i dont have the time and patience to rewirte a 30pg case study booklet we created on it.

Im not denying its free energy in a sense its pollutent free, but the cost to everything else is astronomical.

I hate one sided arguments, so i thought id inform people before they vote it through. Which this is most likly a ploy to do.

Also, I'm not a fan of the moon crashing into Earth.
