All these cinematic trailers are crap, sure they look nice visually, but it does nothing to get me looking forward to the game because it doesn't show any gameplay. It barely tells me anything about the game at all apart from that it'll be based in modern times.

Why does the trailer give me a hint it will be set in Cold War?

To be honest, I'm fed up of Call of Duty, MW2 killed the series IMO. The only decent ones were Treyarch's versions, IW literally took it too far to put Treyarch behind the stage. I used to play Spec Ops and Single Campaign on MW2, but now it sucks badly since it's so repetitive and predictable, whilst WaW's storyline was dynamic and enjoyable to some extent. On the other hand, I guess MW2 had its advantages over the killstreaks, perks and online experience, but then again, in my view, I hated it because I was too used to WaW's style, not to mention Crysis and Halo's MP capability...

I am looking forward to Black Ops a little, but I don't think it'll be enough to suck me back into the CoD void, unless it has Zombies, then I'll be straight back in ! I like how Treyarch have announced that there will be no winning killstreaks like the tactical nuke, which forced me away from MW2, but they have instead created a system for the user to make their own killsteaks .

I would of prefered a Call of Duty Vietnam, but hey. Well, what do you expect from a treyarch CoD, yeah sure WaW was a good game, but CoD 3 was rubbish, I hope they don't go all futuristic on our CoD fan butts.lol I had enough of that from Ghost Recon. Edit: IT is apparently set in Vietnam, but the not the war.. Atleast Call of Duty will visit a bit more exotic locations then just the snowy north.

From what I have seen around the internet it is suppose to be set during vietnam or the cold war.... not official though. We will see when Treyarch releases new information.

Quote: "The only decent ones were Treyarch's versions"

Cod 4 was pretty good. I actually liked World at War and I'm mad that I took it back for MW 2 lol.

I read they are also gonna get rid of commando.

From what we see, confirmed weapons:

M16
AUG HBAR
AKM
AK47

The game has to be set from 1978 onwards (due to the AUG).

I will be buying this game, and hoping that it's not on steam (treyarch wouldn't do that would they?)

thanks

OMG it's Captain Price again. Have to get it for that reason alone. Hopefully there'll be a mix of eras, with some future stuff as well as the Vietnam stuff.

Yes, Captain Price is a well known character to the Call of Duty series. He shows up in the WWII versions (not as a main character), and is a main character for Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.

The game events range from post-WWII to modern day. Don't know how that will affect multiplayer.

There's a reason it's called a 'teaser' trailer. If you don't like them, don't watch them.

Am I the only one that feels like WaW was a COD4 reskin? Although I did love the videos during the loading screens.

Infinity Ward started Call of Duty and I think it should be pretty evident they've done the majority of the work. So far all the filler titles in between IW's games have more or less been a mod of the previous title.

That said, I still have high hopes for Black Ops. I'm hoping Treyarch will exercise a bit more creative freedom in the storyline and I'm really hoping the game will feel different than MW2. I don't want it to be a map pack for MW2.

That would be Activision's choice, not Treyarch's. I would probably get this game as I enjoyed all of the COD games thus far.

1) Its set in Vietnam.
2) Treyarch = Boring Singleplayer, bad maps for multiplayer.
3) Treyarch + Nazi Zombies = Who cares about #2? This game is going to rock!

Are you kidding? The maps on World at War are hundreds times better than MW2 maps, or even CoD4 for that matter.

That's a bit of a weird response considering I need to watch the trailer to see if I like it or not.

Having said that, after reading the Kotaku analysis of the trailer, it does actually give a fair bit of info about the game - loving the SR-71.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, CoD 4 and MW2 were great games... but after hours of playing them they seemed to get quite repetitive. MW2 SP story was broken and choppy, and CoD 4 was good, but feels outdated when playing it now. WaW is the only CoD title that I really enjoyed and still enjoy today.

Anyway thats just my personal opinion. Lets keep our posts civil and try not to start a flame war

The SR-71 is the aircraft in the trailer, take a look at the Kotaku analysis of it for a good still picture of it.

I like Treyarch better. Sure, their graphics might not be the best, an some elements of the multiplayer are a bit choppy, but despite what many other people do, I STILL buy games mainly for their single player campaigns. I think gaming has taken the wrong turn towards making everything online. Gaming used to be about story and gameplay, not who can get to the top of the leaderboards first. Look at Crash Bandicoot, one of the greatest game series of all time, had a multiplayer in the 3rd one, but it wasn't online or anything. Those games were great. Look at Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and Portal. All games that had no multiplayer (Half-Life 2 Deathmatch is a game of its own), and they were awesome.

People worry way too much about online these days.

I agree! There is no more local multiplayer. If me and my friends want to play together, now THEY have to get a PS3, buy THEIR copy of the game, and we meet up online. Pointless. I'm waiting for splitscreen to be cool again.

And also, I usually buy for SP too. So, that's another reason.

From the trailer it reminds me of crysis, all of the trees and excellent scenery. But, its only a cinematic trailer. Chances are the game will not anywhere near that good

So when did COD turn into FIFA soccer...

It's too short a time since MW2, we don't need another COD game right now, not one that will be worse, will annoy more people, have more people idly threatening to boycott, have more people comparing it to every other COD game.

COD should get over itself and concentrate on making just 1 great game, then just stop - because if we all run off and buy Black Ops, then it'll be even sooner and sooner that these 'new' games will appear. Do any of you really think there is anything that new or interesting in Black Ops?

No, not zombies - zombies are great, and that's why I have a goat-load of zombie games, and that's why there's nothing fresh about a zombie, or even 50 of them trying to get in while I try and keep them out.

Buy a damn zombie game - don't rely on some shooter to fulfill your zombie desires. It's not like it's a new idea is it - in fact we could argue that FPS shooter #1 was all about nazi zombies (Wolfenstein). Dead Rising 2 will smash all zombie gameplay that has come before it anyway.

I'll probably play all the COD games they make. I love them. Think they are the BEST game series in the world.

I've played all of them, and I only like WaW, MW and MW2 were horrendously insane with ridiculous outcomes like "Oh look, a guy behind a door, let's shoot him!". I only play WaW now for Zombies, and if CoD:BO (<< Haha, Treyarch should've though twice xD) doesn't have a form of survival game, I won't be getting it unless the SP is great. I'm more of a free-roam shoot 'em up game lover including games like Crysis and Just Cause 2, which is probably why I didn't like CoD as much. To justify my point to yours GJ, I don't think of CoD being the best game series in the world, but it's okay in some extents; the AI is brilliant, the graphics are decent and the story-lines *usually* make sense. So I suppose that I support your point a little bit, but not as strong that I agree, but, of course, it's your opinion .

Not for me I despised MW2, then loved it, then hated it lol, it grows over me in time, basically like a few other games. I very rarely played on MW and MW2 on Xbox LIVE, only WaW for MP and Zombies, and I mullah'd everyone at zombies (c'mon, I survived rounds 12-16 in a 4-player game on Der Riese with everybody else going down xD).

Quote: "I like laptops much better"

Apart from them being able to be portable, there really isn't a good feature with them, you can';t mod them, manually fix them or anything .

Quote: "Never! Consoles shall fall!"

My response to the Xbox 360 now that I've found that playing on my dad's PS3 is more enjoyable than playing on an Xbox. Shame Son dropped the OS feature though lol...but yeah, the games on PS3 are better than the Xbox, but I tend to go more for P{C Gaming now .

That's illegal you know, atleast in England.

CoD is alright, the single player is awesome. Not a big fan of the multiplayer though, the actual gameplay is really shallow, you pull your sights up at any body part and spray till they're dead, the recoil is nothing compared to other games and theres too many over powered weapons and stupid kill streaks.

I need to get this. I recently got into Call Of Duty, in fact I use to hate it. I would see people blow up and think "Eww." But now I think "Not a big enough explosion!" This game will be cool yet a little to...the same. it dosen't look very unique at all. I definitly want it for PS3. You are having a debate anout which is better, but I prefer an easily-holdable controller over a keyboard and mouse/mousepad.

You do realize Call of duty Modern warfare was initially set to be a trilogy?

They've already confirmed Modern warfare 3 will be released AGAIN in November 2011 at a conference interview with the directors.

Its too bad MW3 is not going to live up to the Modern Warfare Series, with all of the members going to Respawn Entertainment.
