Heres a link to a demo of an original song my band and I wrote.
I play the guitar. You can look at the other songs we have but none of them are as good quality. We are sort of a classic heavy metal band. Tell me what you think. By the way we just reciently got a new singer but haven't done any recording with him yet.

first, props for puting yourself out there with this post. these are generally bash bait and i hope you find some useful criticism here.

i listened to the 4 tracks available and second sun was the one i appreciated the most. many parts of the song reminded me of iron maiden, which is a double edged sword. the formula is solid, but "how well can you pull it off?" is the question. alas, practice makes perfect, they say.

as the guitarist, you're one of the vocalists listed and i don't mean to offend either here by stating the new singer was a good move (theoretically, since there are no recordings offered with the current line-up)

i don't recall the track but one reminded me of megadeth. all of this "reminds me of" talk leads to a question of the band's influences?

3 words: "where's the bass!?" - i know these aren't supposed to be commercial recordings but, for me, listening to "sort of classic heavy metal" requires the bass to be heard

overall, i'd go back to the "practice" aspect as there is need for more. there are stumbles here and there that detract (mainly i'm talking the guitar work here... not much on the drums stuck out as bad, to me).

i can't bash as i couldn't attempt any of this myself so please take this as constructive criticism from a long-time metalhead and nothing less!

add: ok. i went and listened to the 2 rehearsals and i'll say #1 is my new favorite track. specifically the last 3rd of it. mostly because 1) the vocals were omitted and 2) i saw/heard a little aggression, which is a necessary ingredient (in massive doses), in my book. it's why i love bands like slayer where hanneman and king take turns squeezing life from their guitars.

I appriciate you criticism Virtual Nomad. We recorded the Demo several months ago and are much much tighter now. When we recorded all of the songs, we just reciently wrote them and had bareley any Idea what we were doing. To be honest, as the song writer, I cant stand to listen to our demos because of all the mistakes that are in them. We were going to professionaly record an album in April, but due to a shortage of time It was an impossible task. I hope we get something new out soon for people to listen to.

It's funny how you said one of the songs reminds you of Megadeth (Im guessing its "Haphazard") because thats what alot of people say. I am currently writing a thrash song which has PLENTY of aggerssion in it.

BTW: When we recorded the rehersals, we just met for the first time.

Finally... A band that sounds more devoted to the real metal, the 80s metal. My only Crit, is to the singer sounds a bit flat, but perhaps work more on getting the notes out better, but the heavy singing parts sound great already. But Musically it is great. The Guitar doesn't sound like Modern Metal, which is too heavy for me, heavy metal to me needs to be melodic aswell as heavy where nowadays it sounds just "Blam Blam Blam" where as like for instance Iron Maiden would have a nicer melody. Second Sun is a prime example of the singer (No offense if it's you.) But I don't know if it is the recording, but it does sound flat, perhaps think out more tempos and melodies, as some times the singing seemed to lag behind. Edit: Atleast your music got me tapping my feet, not many professional bands today in terms of metal make me do that(Except Metallica) But keep it up.

Not bad, I agree the choice of a new singer is a good idea. I went through the various vids you have, I certainly think the guitar has more bite to the verse sections in the rehearsals. In the vid you linked to guitar sound in the verse was, sorry to say, very wimpy. A decent effort I would like to see more as you progress.

good luck

I agree with Virtual Nomad. There is an Iron Maiden flavour to some of the guitar sounds. I quite like it mate. There's definitely potential to develop into a successful band as you evolve.

Your singer isn't professional material though. Fine for a few pub tours, but if you ever wanted to go far, you'd need to find someone else.

Nice stuff! Reminds me of Iron Maiden and Megadeth too, and I love them both!! But it's pretty hard to hear the singer. Everythiung else is pretty fine. Except (propably as a bassist) I'd like to hear the bass more. Loud bass is the way to go. There is not such thing as too much bass. Ans 80's rock is good, but newer metal is awesome. I listen to newer metal more, but enough from that. Nice stuff. I should find a rest of a band somewhere for me...

Yesterday we had our fist official practice with our new singer. He is amazing and he learns fast. Hopefully we will get a video up monday with him singing.

@Jesusaurisrex- I never thought you came on this forum anymore. I'm glad you liked us and think I'm "AMAZING" at guitar. I appreciate that.

@the gamerton valencia- We did the demo recordings with a Tascam 24 track recorder. When we record our album sometime in febuary we are going to use my guitar teacher's studio, which is legit.

I really like the music, but as others have said, the vocals arent the best. Im not saying you couldnt pull of the vocals, but all youre doing is talking deep into the microphone, you gotta put some umphh behind your voice. Best of Luck.
