Why you got slapped.

Well if you are reading this now you have most likely been ‘slapped’ by a moderator that maintains our forum.
Firstly, I would like to say that each mod has been chosen due to their consistent behaviour and up standing disposition. These people are just, fair minded and will graciously admit if they are wrong. They are not bias, racist or unfair and we have trusted their decisions without a doubt for longer than you have been here.

Overview;

A ‘slap’ or ‘noob slap’ is a phrase given to a length of time that your posts are moderated before they are shown to general public. The phrase is given when a new member or 'noob' starts in this community, their posts are watched. This is a very effective anti-spambot system that keeps our forums clean and tidy for us to use.

A Slap is handed out according to the severity of your action, it is decided by either a single mod but can be referred to others in deciding your fate.

Your slap can last from 2-7+ days, depending on the severity of your action/s. In this time your posts are not shown straight away. They are stored for mods to check over, assuring that you are not posting content against the AUP. Moderators have a life and are not waiting at your feet, they will get around to approving your posts.

Common cause for a slap is flame;
Off topic, unreasonable arguments that have no base other than to put down another user.
If you feel that the action does not fit the crime, do not post a thread that will result in more aggravation from fellow members and moderators. Email the mod in question or another moderator to look over the accusations again and verify the length of the slap.

Some FAQ’s
-I posted Xtime ago where is my thought provoking post?
A moderator will get around to it eventually, just relax and wait patiently. DO NOT post the same message again.

-I posted a new thread, I can see it in the board menu but I cannot see my post.
When posting a new thread, the thread will appear but the content will not, a moderator will approve it when he sees fit. Other users can post in the thread though most wait until the original post is shown so that they know how to answer.

-I have been slapped for Xtime now, when does it run out and how can I find out?
Contact a moderator through email, they will tell you the reason and length of the slap time.

This has been written since I was bored and tired of the silly threads that pop-up time to time. Feel free to add to this.

Well said, Laz.

Although, you might want to replace "stupid" with a more eloquent word. Perhaps re-word it like so; "Your slap can last anywhere from 2 to 7+ days, depending on the severity of your actions which got you slapped in the first place." Otherwise, it just seems like you're picking on people (even though we know you aren't (or are you? )).

The snag here is, the mods explain that they've slapped you 99.9% of the time - so the whole problem is people not reading in the first place

In which case, if this were to say be stickied, it would not be read either

Please....please....don't post the same thing multiple times; I'll only approve the one message, and delete the others.

Nicely said, laz! Now whenever someone asks why they were slapped, we can just post them the link for this thread

I think we should sticky this in a new post, with the words "NEW POSTERS READ THIS FIRST!!! HOW NOT TO GET SLAPPED!!!" in really big letters. Maybe not so many people will find themselves slapped, then asking themselves what they did wrong... well, in my opinion anyway...
