Developer: MetalDevil123

FPSC Version: FPSCx9, v1.16 powered by Fenix Mod.

Story: Well, very basic "I woke up" story. Yuo wake up in this filthy place. You don't know what happened, but you do know that you need to get out. You heard some noises wich didn't sound good. You need to get out, find out who is doing this and why.

Screenies:

Oh, and the controls are default, except "F" is for Flashlight!

So, I started making this project some time ago, ofter I was watching some gameplay videos of Peumbra: Black Plague, and thougt it looked awesome, and got a huge inspiration blast and this thing was born...

mm i kinda like the screens, but from my Eagle eye, i can see that theres just not flowing...i can see that the segments dont match and i see that its just 1 level, i tought that there were more levels done and the screens represented the many, but there's just one, and that flowing its not good, edited a little bit, and youill project will become more powerful than ever!

@mgarand Thanks man

Quote: "mm i kinda like the screens, but from my Eagle eye, i can see that... "

Ok, now let's see what your Eagle Eye sees!!!

Quote: "i can see that theres just not flowing"

First, how do you know what room comes after what? Not trying to be mean, just asking. Propably after I come back, you can try and see how's the "flow" in this (via demo)

Quote: "i can see that the segments dont match"

Well, this propably makes sense, UNTIL! I go to hte next quote!

Quote: "its just 1 level"

Hmm... this might be a bit set back to your Eagle Eye, cause there is 2 levels and I am working on hte 3rd.

Quote: "and that flowing its not good"

I thougt that flow was about gameplay. Well... good try tho! Not trying to put you down, but I find it a bit funny. I am not trying to offend or anything.

Here is a bit old screenie of hte third level, I was talking about: (attached)

You made your comment while I was writing! Yes, the master of horror himself has been some inspiration here... but mostly Penumbra and Shroudling! I love that character and couldn't wait to play with it!

It looks good. From the frames it looks like the game has a nice flow to it. And I think your segs match just fine for a run down look. I think that this will be interesting.

Looks pretty good to me, only thing I would crit is the tiled ceiling maybe just swop that out so its not same as the floor, makes it look like its tiled in same way with ceramics which just wouldnt be done like that, way too much work and impractical in real terms.
A simple little plaster slightly grunged would work so much better in my opinion, but thats just me.

Really nice ambient in your screens! Looks already pretty interesting.
You should only change one small thing: The tiles on the ceiling, that dosn't look really realistic. Maybe you should use something like concrete for the ceiling.

This looks awesome, Only thing is, a couple of the screenies are a tiny bit bare, and yes, alot of detail etc can create lag, ETC, but a couple of large, static crates in the one with the wire fences, or WE. Just something to fill space. I mean, sure, if there was monsters or enemies etc there, it would distract you, but yeah. Just a couple of parts are bare.

thanks McCrazy!

Ikey: Are you really serious? Crates? No thanks for that. Why should I add some crates there? wouldn't fit at all... I don't mself thinkit's too bare, but I can sure add some overlays there but just think about random crates there. I know, when I ot FPSC I was putting crates in rediculous places, but you'll learn.

Hello Metal Devil,
I like the graphics of your game. You use FPSCx9 or x10? You made the entities / textures yourself?
Y does a scenario? Good luck with your game !

Ciao.

@RandalGeek
He's using x9.

Metal Devil these screens look great! The third last one reminds me of Wolf's Euthanasia. This one:

What will the gameplay be about?

Penumbra hat mostly riddles and no weapons at all.

This has no weapons eather, so you can't kill enemies and you just have to run away from them, if it comes to that point. It has puzzles (thou not as clever as in penumbra, propably.) There will propably be outdoor scenes too (becousee I want a touch of Silent Hill there too). I am full of ideas, that I need to bring to life when I come back home in two weeks.

Well i think its good playing with guns, but in a very limited way, like you have a zombie withh 400 HP and only 12 Bullets to shoot with, that would freak me out.

Good level design and Lighting is perfecto

Keep it up

looks nice, but I'd focus on the plotline before you make the level otherwise it'll take longer.

I have the plotline, but I don't know how to present it yet. It's not in the level I would be presenting it, without sounding like a moron.

I am trying to build the demo, but so far no luck. I don't know what FPSC has against second levels, but whatever my 2nd level is, it always bugs there... Well, I am still trying and if no luck, will have to wait till 1.17, but I will release a demo!

Just played the demo and it was pretty good! The scare tactics were very good.

SPOILER!

Although the stuff was becoming repetitive, the overall level design was great and the mood was really set!

Sounds were great aswell.

Just one thing bugged me, come on skype and I would like to discuss that with you.

I would rate this an 8.5/10!

I just played the demo twice and here is my review.

The Good:
- Custom Menu
Very professional. The loading screen really got my attention.
- General Ambience
Everything fits together well to create an air of desolation. No cheap effects like blood and body parts around every corner, just a grungy place that looks belivable real.
- Player Speed
It seemed to me that player speed was drastically reduced which is good since in RL anybody would walk around such a place very cautious.
- Creepy NPCs
The guy crossing the corridor is pretty overused but the one where you could only see the legs was cool. I didn't even recognize the model at first which did stir my attention.

The Bad:
- Entities used
Most fit together perfectly but are overused. On the other hand the boxes and lockers in the 2-level-high room did not fit and spoiled it somehow. The planks and corrugated iron sheets looked out of place.
- Flashlight
The whole place has very good lighting but turning on the flashlight completely wastes that. Unfortunately there is no reason to ever turn it off again.
- Lack of Story
Ok, its just a demo but the whole level feels a little dull. There is nothing that gives a hint where the player is, how he did get here or what has happened so there is no real motivation.

The Ugly:
- Ghost Train
Having the player run into a dead monster for thrills is ok...but playing a "shock" sound in addition is cheap

On my personal demo scale it's a 2.5 out of 5 and I'd call it "a solid basis to continue"

On a sidenote I'd like to add that it's really refreshing to play a demo that gets along without the "get weapon - shoot zombie" routine

Thanks for the review The Storyteller 01! I will fix some things and see about the entities and such. There was still one "ugly that you forgot. The water puddle in the last room (before vents). It was reflecting The Metro Theater room. I was expecting for you to say something about that, but what are you gonna do... lol. But thanks again!

And update (about teh puddle)
