so idecided to max out my old p4 setup by getting a 3.4ghz Pentium 4 and an asus radeon x1950 pro. the graphics card is good but it has a problem where its fan speed is extremely low (even during games) which causes it to overheat. apparently the whole line of x1950s had this problem. i downloaded ati tray tools but it says it dosent support fan control. maybe i should flash the cards bios or someing. has anyone here ever had this card wit this problem?

I think all low end ATI's have this problem. Two of my ATI cards had their fans die. x600 pro and an x1600 pro.

I have an Nvidia card now... (Although mostly for the PhysX/Cuda )

Speedfan can control fan speeds, though not sure if this will help or not.

In true DIY stlye i would just get an extra fan and atach it on top, though that might be more problematic.............................

Buy a 4x4 centimetres big fan,use superglue to glue it onto the heatsink and plug it to your motherboard or PSU. Works definately (tested).

OR you could remove the heatsink, reapply the thermal paste and reinstall the heatsink.

that would work lol. but you know how graphics card fans are like inside of the heatsink? I could reapply thermal paste but i really cant get over the fact thatthe fan is working at 20% of its full speed, i can stop it with my finger without hurting myself (usually putting fingers inside of a gpu fan hurts)

Probably a faulty or dirty fan. Try cleaning,if it won't be better, just buy a new heatsink or an used one.

its not about the heatsink (its all clean), the fan is slow because of some driver issue or something. but i am thinking of attaching another fan to the card powerd by the PSU or something like that
