i am building a computer right now but for kicks i want a really old retro looking case for it preferably a beige big tower from a pentium 1 server or older. the problem is i dont know any of the models or manufacturers that made computers back then. any older members of the forum that remember the times can you help me out with information? i will proboly have to just buy an old computer or server just for the case. so any old computer manufacturers from the early 90s would be a great help

Not sure about servers exactly, but some Packard Bell machines around the ~200MHz mark have absolutely huge towers for some reason.

Find one of those on eBay and it may fill the bill

EDIT: Also, a 'full tower' is what you want to look for I think - as in the original full-scale towers

I really want something like this (even has a little number display in the front) but unfortunatley the back panel wont work for more modern hardware

ATX motherboards fit into most huge cases unless they are very old. The old computers had some werid standards so try to get a new case as possible.

A great Big Tower case is this: LINK

If you want an old time P1 case, your going to have to do some modding. As you know, they were made for AT motherboards, not ATX. You'll have to change the mounting back-plate and cut the back of the case to accommodate the ATX port layout. You'll also have to change out the power button and probably a couple more things. You should be able to install a newer ATX power supply in any full-tower case though.

It would be best to find, as retro looking as you can, a newer ATX full tower case. In my quick search I didn't find much, but there are still some like this one. I did however find some really cool retro mods, like old radio cases and even one that looked like an old furnace.

Brian.

Yeah, i read some stuff on how to mod an old AT case into an ATX, should be easy enough for me and my power tools The problem with cases today is its hard to find a good classical looking case that dosent look like a turbo jet or some starship control panel from 60s sci-fi movies. the really old fulltower cases (in the links above) are just so badass looking.

here is another really cool looking one http://www.mr7.ru/netcat_files/402/266/h_6453bf05920e2adac3afe8efcd23b10e

so does anyone know any of the model names of these because i cant even find pictures on the internet of these
