On this line:
CREATE BITMAP 13, (mapWidth * 16), (mapHeight * 16)

I get the error "Runtime Error 1002 - Bitmap does not exist at line 245"

If the values of mapWidth and mapHeight are too high, you maybe running out of GFX memory. There is a similar posting in the bug forum (although there is no bug):
